Harmony ECMAscript

JavaScript creator Brendan Eich posted an interesting letter on the newsletter about the future specification of ECMAScript-262 after a meeting in Oslo. The discussion was attended by representatives of Adobe, Google & MicroSoft, who have their own implementations of this standard (JavaScript, ActionScript, Rhino, JScript.NET).

The developers decided to concentrate on version 3.1 and abandon a number of features that were originally supposed to be added to ES4: packages, namespaces & early binding. Now classes that can be simplified to lambda-coding + Object.freeze have also been called into question.

ES 4 is dead, long live ES 3.1! AS 3 is now his own boss.
