Micron launches superfast SSD

The relentless development of SSD technology has led Micron Technology (one of the world's leading suppliers of semiconductors) to their intention to produce SSDs with a reading speed of 250MBps . This is whiter than twice the speed of an SSD announced last month by Samsung (90MBps).

The P200 RealSSD drive will use single-level cell technology for the enterprise market, and the C200 will use a multi-level cell for the home computer market. The P200 will be available in volumes from 16 to 128 GB with a 2.5-inch form factor, while the C200 will be available in the same form factor up to 256 GB. Obviously, the C200 will also be in the 1.8-inch form factor up to 128GB, for example, for UMPC.
Of course, the peak reading speed of 250MBps is impressive, with a writing speed of 100MBps. These devices work with power from about 0.3 to 2.5 W, and they are also SATA compatible. Discs will be available in the fourth quarter of this year, the price is still unknown.
