How we conducted team building

Team building. Part I. At the “minefield”

For Simpals (well, this is our SIMPALS company) last Saturday was not just a half-weekend, as usual. On this day, everyone was sympathetic together in team building. A few days before, all weather sites shouted about the endless Saturday rains with thunderstorms. Simpals was afraid, but did not back down. And he did it right. As a result, all with a rural tan, but satisfied.

Team building is cool. This is fashionable. For those who are in the tank, team building is literally "team building." That is an event organized to strengthen the team spirit. And the fact that team building is cool, we realized right away.
At first we were going on a road-road. Someone was getting enough sleep on the bus, someone was hanging out on the street, someone was late. We left naturally half an hour later than planned. Not everyone had enough seats on the bus, so some of the Simpalovites stood on foot. We drove a total of an hour and a half. The area where the whole action took place is called Trebujeni, this is a bit beyond Old Orhei (Moldova). We landed from the bus at a time when he was simply not able to pull us further. He rode almost perpendicular to the fence.

There was only a kilometer and a half to go, and we took the boxes of food in our hands, stuffed the rest into backpacks, and went. Come, come, come. Our camp was located on a "minefield", so every 5 minutes someone congratulated someone: "Oh! You will be rich! ”The fun began. The first thing we ran into mulberry. Savages of the city, what to do ... Grubby, but still hungry, we started breakfast on the grass. We were not given much time, so chewing on the last sandwiches on the go, we stood in a circle.

We held hands, we felt each other's pulse, and each spoke a word that characterized our team. At this large meeting, we met with a team of instructors. Well, in general, teambuilding psychology has begun. We sat like that in a circle of 5-10 minutes, after which we were divided into teams. Everyone, without looking, pulled himself out of the bag on a ribbon. Thus, we got two teams: red and blue. Although the blue all the time thought they were green.

From that moment, Andrey became the main instructor of the Reds team, and Tanya became the blue ones. Both are very polite, with everyone on “You.” So nice. And here is the first small but important task. Come up with the name, motto and flag of the team. The Reds managed faster. At first, the Sun (each of us invented names for himself, and most used nicknames or something “from the bulldozer”), that is, Roma, began to draw some kind of mug on the flag. While he was completing details such as light unshaven, there was a discussion of the name. As a result, Johan Trakhtenbergovich blurted out: “We love vodka and watermelons, we are cool telepuzes!” This option was adopted as a motto. The name, respectively, was "Telepuzi". The Blue people thought longer, in the end they called themselves “Gypsies”, and their motto was simply “We!”.

Team building. Part II If there’s a wall in your head, you need to drink green.

Then the main competitions began. There were 2 stages in total: they can be conditionally divided into pre-afternoon and afternoon. Dinner was fairly simple. But we understood this later. In the meantime ... The first competition. "Caterpillar". Everyone lined up in a "caterpillar", hugging each other at the waist and breathing in front of the one standing in the back. And in this way, 18 people, without loosening their arms, should have reached the finish line faster than the other 18 people. I must say that the task is not easy. And from the kidneys. Not a single gang could cope without penalty points.

Then there were 4 more contests of the same plan. We tied knots on a long rope, then another team untied them; climbed through the "web" of ropes; passed the maze all together and in silence. In general, the contests were short, at first glance even for children, but very useful. At this stage, we learned to listen to each other, we got to know each other more closely, studied those with whom it was not possible to communicate closely until now.
Dinner. The long-awaited lunch. Blue “Gypsies” prepared the first, red “Telepuzes” - the second. Borshch turned out excellent. But the pilaf remained undercooked. But this was not a problem for a second, because there was still a dinner before. And for dessert, mulberry.

Then the second stage began. More complex and large. We were all instructed on how to wear climbing equipment. Everyone understood everything, after which they went directly to "climb". But climbing was only a means. The goal was to: guess the hidden key word. This key was an anagram from the first letters of the words that needed to be "bought out" from the hermit who was sitting on the top of the rock. The hermit was a good instructor Vadim. There was another way: choral singing, which could solicit an additional letter. Both gypsies and telepuzes have successfully used both methods. The gypsies even went to a dance.

Unfortunately, not everyone was able to climb. And for those who succeeded, not everything worked out. There were instances which, due to their high growth and large body mass, found it difficult to climb up, even along a ladder that was lowered to the aid from a cliff. They did this for a long time, so much so that the stones were already pouring. But at that moment it became clear why the instructors forbade approaching the ladder without a helmet. One such pebble with a fist fell right into the helmet on the head of another of our specimen, which held the stairs while the first climbed. If it weren’t for the helmet, I would have to drink green stuff.
In short, everyone guessed in turn their 18 (!) Letter words and climbed the rocks.

Team building. Part III. Each dodik has his own technique.

Further, everyone's hair moved to ****: a rope was pulled between the trees. And that’s all. The most terrible assumptions about juggling came true. Although Andrei then pulled from the crown of each tree a hanging rope that should have helped us, it did not become much easier. It turned out that we had to walk in two, holding on to these hanging ropes, to the middle of the stretched rope, and exchanging places, walk our way to the end. It became very scary, because the injury hazard of this contest was obvious. However, everything went relatively easily. Somehow I managed to feel the rope, keep my balance, and it was calmer, because we insured each other from behind. Some equilibrists got a taste and ran a second time.

The worst thing came after. The rope was pulled in total between 5 trees, from one to the other. That is, it turned out 4 stretched rope sections, with five stopping points. In the previous contest, we walked only in one section and then with the help of hanging ropes. And in this we had to go all the way and without external help! No ropes and no insurance!

At first, we were at a loss at first ... But nothing! Stirring our brains, we (i.e. telepuzes) came up with a technique for going through this stage as well. The briskest equilibrists ran forward and there, holding onto a tree, extended their hand to the next telepause, thereby reducing the distance from tree to tree. In the end, it turned out that 5-6 people accumulated near the penultimate tree, and we got confused in our methodology. There was noise, din, someone jumped off the rope, loudly sang “Rock and roll is dead, but I haven’t”, jumped back or started over. In a word, a madhouse. We did not complete the task. During the allotted time for the competition, only 7 people reached the end. The gypsies also let us down. But Andrei reassured us: he said that ooooooooo very few teams were coping with this task.

After this cruel test, we again sat in a circle. This time the topic of conversation was associations. Each of us had to tell what animal he associates himself with, and why. It turns out that among us there are stallions, wolves, jerboas, chinchillas, monkeys, owls, a flock of cats and cats, in general, the animal world of Simpals is diverse.

Team building. Part IV Well this is ... wine, barbecue, and then I don’t remember ...

After this respite, the most exciting stage awaited us. Crossing the ropes through Raut. The task was to, by asking simple questions with the supposed answer “Yes / No”, guess the hidden word. This key word was known to 3 people: Andrei (our host) and two instructors who were waiting for us on the other side (one met, the other sent back). Only a hint and only choral singing could be knocked out of Andrei. But we were already so tired that we sang not so willingly as climbing, and not so much. Nevertheless, we guessed the word quickly, and in the remaining time we simply “skated”. Two ropes were pulled parallel from one shore to another: you walk along one and hold on to the other. Feeling awesome! You walk, and under you the river flows ... But you come back quickly. You are fastened with a special mechanism and released. On the other side, they brake and unfasten. You only have time to squeak with pleasure :)

Whoever finished before, that one had time to gain strength before the last two contests. They turned out to be the most harmonious and friendly. By this moment, we had already learned to listen and hear the captain (and a new one was chosen for each competition), and learned to understand each other better and faster. Basins took part in both of these contests. First, we had to all together, feet in these 11 basins, get to the finish line. With shouts, but in an organized manner, we managed several times faster than the norm to get to the finish line. And we also finished the last contest earlier. We all had to blindfolded, without stumbling, to go through the basins, which Andrei arranged in random order. With open eyes, there was only the captain of this competition Maksik. He had the right to tell where to put his foot.

Well, that’s it! The competitions were held, finally both teams were together, because during the whole afternoon we were apart, we took part in competitions in different places. Now you can eat pilaf, and mulberry, and meat ... And wine, of course! Where without him. But first, the final debriefing. Again a huge circle, and a discussion. Straight "House-2" of some kind: with the Sun and a frontal place. Everyone had to express their opinion about the past event. Well, of course, everyone liked everything. It was really cool. Everyone had their own expectations, but ... this is beyond praise!

The only thing that almost everyone noted: it was bad that we were divided and practically isolated from each other. Gypsies and telepuzes could not interact with each other. But the organizing guys promised to fix it next time. Everyone liked this promise :) While we were discussing all this, the meat came to standard, and we went to absorb it with lunch pilaf. And the wine. There were still songs, a guitar, a watermelon, and, it seems, vodka ... In general, it was unusually fun and indecently friendly!

Kisses to everyone, ottimbuilding team Simpals
