Linux - for housewives, XP - for geeks
An interesting trend has emerged in the subnotebook market. As you know, various models are sold with different operating systems. So, the study of consumer demand showed that Linux subnotebooks, such as the Eee PC701, are mainly bought by students and housewives, while geeks like the more expensive Windows XP subnotebooks.
XP subnotes are about $ 35-100 more expensive than Linux models. Of course, housewives experienced in shopping immediately feel this difference and, thus, replenish the army of “Linuxoids”. From the point of view of the housewife, there is no difference in the functionality of these computers, because both under XP and under Linux the browser, the mail client, office programs, etc. are equally launched.
This interesting phenomenon looks especially unusual against the background of the traditional PC market, where everything is exactly the opposite. Here the situation is completely opposite: the Windows operating system is traditionally considered the choice of beginners, and experienced computer programmers install various GNU / Linux distributions.
