The system has such a system on the hub that comments with an extremely low rating are hidden behind the link “open comment”.
I suggest doing instead of hiding - changing the color of the text, you can calculate based on the "depth" of the minus. That is, for -1 the color will be in the region of # 111, for -15 - #ccc (can be calculated based on the absolute scale or from some kind of relative).
Because I myself open almost every commented comment, I have to take 1 action for each such comment and watch what kind of post such a heated discussion flared up.
UPD: One of the comments showed that the pictures in the opened posts can tear apart the design, so you can additionally embed a filter that leaves only the text in the comments with a negative rating.
