To the attention of all keyboardists. :)

This [GUITART] blog post will introduce you to the latest keyboards donated to us by Roland.

Having appeared this year at the music exhibition “Music of Moscow”, she could not pass by the Roland stand. I have no regrets about the time spent! And I can not help but share some pleasant discoveries: A

synthesizer based on elastic audio V-Synth GT

    Fantom synthesizer line It is

impossible, in my opinion, to provide details about these tools in one article, so I will limit myself to my impressions and opinion of eminent keyboardists.

V-Synth GT or Chef for Keyboard Installation

The V-Synth GT workstation is somewhat reminiscent of a spacecraft control panel: buttons, toggle switches, sensors, screen ... At first it’s hard to even understand what it is responsible for! The first thing that comes to mind is flexibility! Flexibility in the sense that the instrument allows you to mix all kinds of sounds in various proportions, so you feel not a musician, but rather a cook. True, in my opinion, the tool is good only for creating the so-called "electronic", as simply "play" on it will not work. But for real sound lovers (if there is such a word!) V-Synth GT is a true find.

    Fantom's

The second discovery for me at the 2007 exhibition was the new line of Roland synthesizers - Fantom X. Without going into details of the improved interface and other pleasant trifles, I will say that the instruments captivated me with their sound. It makes no sense to tell - just try once. It’s impossible to remain indifferent! True, they cost significantly more than the EXR line, which was described in the first post about keyboards. Price of tools: from 80000 rub.

Here you can see how these handsome people are used and sound.

    What do the professionals say?

My impressions are rather the impressions of an amateur who is not too sophisticated in playing various instruments. We’ll listen to what keyboard art meters say about the new line of Roland synthesizers. Better than them, hardly anyone will be able to impartially highlight all the advantages and disadvantages.

Jordan Rudess: “With Roland’s new Fantom, the means of expression are far superior to any synthesizer I've ever seen. When I play the synthesizer, I need to quickly switch from one performance with overlays and splits to another. Previously, it was not possible to switch without breaking the sound. And now Roland’s new Live Mode - you hold your hand on the keyboard and the old sound sounds, and new notes play with a new sound. ”

Paul Mirkovich: “The visual interface shows everything that happens - right in front of your eyes, and it greatly simplifies the work. I see which controllers are controlled by which sliders, I see which sounds are selected, and what are the current levels of different layers. Special thanks should be said for the new Live Mode. Each patch in this mode has its own COSM effect, and therefore the patches used sound exactly like in Single mode (single patch mode). Now you don’t have to sacrifice effects when combining several different patches in Live Mode! And all together sounds incomparable! ”

Keyboard“ Shiny Toy Guns ”:“ The computer and the recording station are integrated into one synthesizer, and the smaller the individual boxes, the less confusion. Everything has become easier. ”

    Sound modules

It is worth noting that Roland now releases removable sound modules. Sound Modules (ZM) using MIDI technology are usually used either as standalone sound sources or to expand the capabilities of MIDI keyboards. Perhaps the most famous are the Virus sound modules from Access. Korg also produces sound modules. And now there are new ZM from Roland.

I think that soon a separate article will be devoted to sound modules. In the meantime, enjoy the look of the Fantom XR Rack Sound Module:
