3G iPhone will be introduced in Japan?

According to rumors from reliable sources (Wall Street Journal Asia), Steve Jobs recently met with the president of the largest mobile phone operator in Japan, NTT DoCoMo, Mr. Masao Nakamur, and as you know, they did not meet to drink sake and eat sushi. The conversation was about launching the iPhone in Japan and it seems they even agreed.
But the most interesting thing is that NTT DoCoMo does not support the GSM / EDGE standard and therefore the “Japanese” iPhone should work in a UMTS / HSDPA network - yes, right, 3G iPhone!
