Touch hysteria: is there an alternative to the iPhone? TouchFLO?
I warn you right away. I'm not a geek. And a month ago, I had no idea what communicators were (I used the Sony Ericsson K750i phone with pleasure). However, apparently, due to the ever-increasing departure to the network and the constantly growing feeling of lack of information, GPRS Internet on a 176x220px screen began to seem to me that it does not allow me to live a full, saturated life.
In addition, I had a bad habit of working all the time, sitting at a large stationary computer. (= I wanted something more frivolous and accessible in places other than an apartment and an office. Something that could tear me from continuous coding. And since I have long understood that there’s no getting away from the computer - I invented to change the shape of this computer itself. A smart idea, do not you? (=
My brain was immediately attacked by the notorious iPhone. Everyone around began to tell me that there is only an iPhone: there is nothing more. Yes, the two-finger touchscreen struck my imagination. As if the boundary between the physical and those on the screen has been erased. And the speed and ease of access to information in the browser !? Yeah. But.
On the iPhone, I immediately did not like the following things:
So, I rummaged through the internet and came across a device that was pretty in pictures: HTC Touch

Most of all I was pleased with the small size of the device (it’s practically no different in size from a regular phone), plus the notorious word Touch that captured my brain.
After playing with the device for three days and three nights, I realized that it was worth living, but it should not cost 16 thousand rubles! Deprived of the above-mentioned shortcomings of the iPhone, HTC Touch, however, is endowed with a whole fan of its own absurdities. However, I do not want to describe my discontent now.
I’d better talk about TouchFLO technology, which claims to be an alternative to tachu in iPhone.
“TouchFLO ™ is a special feature that provides more convenient operation with the touch panel on the communicator. With TouchFLO, you can scroll the screen and move around it just by moving your finger . ” (HTC)
Delving into the internet, I realized that this technology is by no means the prerogative of a particular communicator model, as its manufacturers claim. There is a very interesting and at the same time absolutely free program FTouchFLO .
“TouchFLO technology also includes a touch cube with which you can run messaging programs, Internet Explorer® Mobile and others. You can also add your favorite contacts, play music, and view images and video files . ” (HTC)
It turned out that this function exists by itself, in isolation from a particular manufacturer of communicators! The program is commercial, called Touch Commander . However, you can easily find a free version of the program (=
PS I would like to know who else uses these programs and on which devices? What are your assessments of this technology?
PPS Personally, I tried to run these programs on my HTC Touch and they came into conflict with the functions wired inside, which I could not turn off. It’s a pity - the capabilities of touch programs exceed the capabilities provided by the manufacturer of the communicator
. I also tested the programs on DELL Axim X51V (Heck, thanks!) And a little upset - I could not learn how to start the touch cube. But FTouchFLO, delivered separately earned! Although I most wanted the cube. It seems to me that it is best adapted to the interface of existing communicators

On the iPhone, I immediately did not like the following things:
- Lack of official sales in Russia
- Mobile Operator Binding Policy
- Closed to ordinary MacOS users
- The fundamental lack of Copy / Paste function
- Mass hysteria around the device - in particular, and the Mac style - in general

FTouchFLO
Allows you to control any PDA with Windows Mobile 5/6, using your finger instead of a stylus. It allows you to scroll the contents of the window in most applications (Interner Explorer, Outlook, File explorer, MS Word, Notes, Contacts etc.), where there are vertical or horizontal scroll bars. In addition to the ability to scroll with your finger, FTouchFlo also provides the ability to launch programs. You will have the opportunity to launch up to 4 of your favorite applications by simply swiping your finger across the screen in one of four directions.

In fact, it contains implanted FTouchFLO inside (the FTouchFLO program is detected among other files immediately after installing the main program) and additionally implements the so-called Touch Cube . More precisely, this is not a cube, but a trihedral prism. The prism opens by moving the finger from the bottom up, and closes by the movement from top to bottom. and turns the movement left-right. These are three independent screens with a customizable number of cells, in each of which you can put an icon link to any communicator program.
