100 million graphics chips in three months

The TG Daily resource summed up the results of productive work for the third quarter of six major players in the GPU market and published the result, which, incidentally, is impressive.

According to the announced data, AMD, Intel, Matrox, Nvidia, SiS and Via / S3 for the third quarter of this year delivered a total of 97.9 million chips. This is 18% more than for the same period a year ago. The most significant contribution to the common cause was, of course, made by Intel, which supplied 37.2 million devices (21.1% more than a year ago). However, the corporation lost 3.8% of its market share, which now stands at 38%. AMD, in turn, sold 18.7 million chips and also lost a little weight: now it controls 19.1% of the market, although a year ago it owned 23.4%. The performance of both giants was spoiled by NVIDIA, which delivered 33.1 million graphics processors in the third quarter, snatching 33.9% of the market.

The remaining trinity, obviously, was in a big separation from the leaders. In particular, Matrox issued a miserable 120 thousand devices, SiS shipped 2.1 million, and Via / S3 was limited to 6.6 million.
