The last chances of politicians or poor children (about one wretched site of the Ukrainian government)

Recently, namely on September 21 this year, it was announced about the imminent opening of the website of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine intended for children. To admit, such an announcement was a little surprised, suddenly a children's Internet resource is being created, and even under the auspices of the Cabinet of Ministers, and not the Ministry of Education, as it would be logical to assume, the opening of the site was planned on the 27th, just before the elections. An seditious thought involuntarily arises in my head, is this not yet another PR action? But, right, we will not look for politics in everything, we will discard the pre-election paranoia and suppose that the site is open with good goals. Next, we quote from the announcement of the opening of the web page:

“On the pages of the site, children will be able to get information about the structure and history of state power, to get acquainted with the work of the government and executive authorities in Ukraine in more detail. Visitors to the site will be able to take part in educational games, put puzzles from the regions of Ukraine, paint the tree of the world in traditional Ukrainian colors. The Cabinet of Ministers plans to develop this project, attract schools, libraries, public organizations to it, and hopes to make it one of the most popular children's Internet resources in the country .

Judging by the announcement, everything is fine, finally a project without a hateful policy, a project for our future - our children. And so, the 27th day came and the site opened, which was reported by the state media and what a special press conference with the participation of the Minister of the Cabinet of Ministers Anatoly Tolstoukhov was dedicated to.
Let us try not to bias and objectively evaluate this creation, created with the support of the highest sovereign husbands. It should be noted that, as stated, the site was developed in partnership with the Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine, the State Library of Ukraine for the Youth, the Association of Directors of Secondary Schools of Ukraine, and the editors of the children's educational journal Vulik. So many assistants in the development - and therefore the site was created excellent !?

The question is, without an alternative need for children to see on the site, which, recall, according to officials, should become one of the country's most popular children's Internet resources, the photo is a rather odious politician, apparently it is a rhetorical one.

Well, let's begin, we type in the address bar of our Internet browser the declared address children.kmu.gov.ua - cheers!, Here we are on the main page of the site. But what is it, some users are immediately disappointed, the site header looks like it has moved out, and animated pictures do not work! What? It turns out that the creators of the site, for some reason, did not take into account the existence of other Internet browsers except Microsoft Internet Explorer, the site simply does not work correctly in Opera and Mozilla Firefox, not to mention Safari.
What to do, open “abandoned on the back of the hard drive”, Internet Explorer, the main page of the site looks more or less presentable in it.

So, we have the opportunity to click on four interactive elements: the “head” of the site with a stylized image of Kiev, a picture of four children (I must say not neatly drawn), a learned cat in a hat, as well as jumping letters in which, with some difficulty, it’s possible recognize the inscription "CABMIN".
Oddly enough, when you click on any of these interactive elements, we get to the page with a greeting from the Prime Minister of Ukraine V.F.Yanukovych and his smiling photo. A reasonable question arises: why should four interactive elements be made if they all lead to the same material? The question is, without an alternative need for children to see on the site, which, recall, according to officials, should become one of the country's most popular children's Internet resources, the photo is a rather odious politician, apparently it is a rhetorical one. I wonder how quickly they will change the picture on the site in the event of a change in the Prime Minister of Ukraine.
Surely every child dreams of knowing where and when the Minister of Finance was born, or that the Minister of Foreign Affairs was the first deputy head of the Odessa Regional State Administration.

Well, let's consider this not so important a trifle. Surely there should be plenty of interesting information on the site, various games and animated videos for Ukrainian children. I would like to, but ...
There are seven sections on the site. We go to the first section entitled " About Vlad ", it contains only a dry description of the branches of the Ukrainian government - it is unlikely that it will interest children.

We move on, the second section of " Mіy Uryad", this section is even more" interesting "to children, because here it is possible to read biographies of all Ukrainian ministers. Surely every child dreams of knowing where and when the Minister of Finance was born, or that the Minister of Foreign Affairs was the first deputy head of the Odessa Regional State Administration.

The third section of the ор History of Sovereign Power ’is a brief Ukrainian history, presented by the stages of development of statehood, and the historical data presented in the section is very controversial. For example, the first section of our history is called“ An tska power ”, the section says that Kievan Rus arose on the basis of the Ant state, a very, very controversial statement.
But again we got carried away, we will leave the disputes about history to historians and move on to the fourth section, because it promises to be interesting!
The section is called " Excursion by the Buda ryadu ", in fact, the children are quite interested to see what and how they have it in the Ministerial House.
It should be said that this section, unlike the entire site, is drawn at a fairly high level, but the fact is that, apparently, the section was not a section of the site at all, but a printed booklet for children. The booklet was not bad, but it’s not a problem, transferring it to electronic form and putting it on the site, someone forgot about the proportions and sizes. As a result, the text looks very small and almost unreadable.

True, upon a detailed examination, it turns out that there are only three games in the section, and there are no competitions at all.

Follow again, the fifth section, entitled " My Ukraine, " is a map of Ukraine drawn for children. The map seems to be made quite well, but, firstly, the picture opens in low resolution, which makes it look blurry, and secondly, the map becomes interactive only when you go to the additional submenu “ethnographic map” (by the way, the words “mapa” are used on one page "And the" map ", determine how it is right, officials), it’s complicated for children, don’t you?

In the sixth section, “School of Gigantic Education,” the developers had the strength only to compose two “lessons” (essentially just a text, without any interactive features), well, thank you for saying that the officials are busy, you look after a year or two a couple of lessons for children will be offered.
And finally, the seventh section! Rejoice, children, this is exactly what you were waiting for, the section is called "Igry ta konkursi". True, upon a detailed examination, it turns out that there are only three games in the section, and there are no competitions at all. The first game - the stated puzzle, pieces of which are the regions of Ukraine, is drawn rather clumsily and roughly.
The second game, “Svitovoe tree”, is not much better, in it you need to click on pre-selected colors to color the picture, strange, the developers have never said that the site is positioned as a page for children under 3 years old. And finally, the last “masterpiece” is the game “Captured by the Points”, if the last game was for children under 3 years old, then this game is visible for children under one year old, because it does not require anything except clicking on the mouse anywhere on the screen.
Also on the site there is an "extensive" dictionary of 10 concepts and a search, everything, there’s nothing more for children to count on. And this is a site that should become one of the best Ukrainian children's resources ?!
Yes, this multimedia portal would not have deserved a quartet if it had been made by a student of any reputable university in information technology.

What we have in the end is a page with poor layout, almost no animation, poorly thought out navigation (for example, not all open pages have a button to return to the main page) and practically worthless information content. There are also three primitive games and there is no hint of interactive communication between children.
And this is the project loudly announced by the officials, the project which was taken care of by the highest sovereign men ?! Yes, this multimedia portal would not have deserved a quartet if it had been made by a student of any reputable university in information technology. I want to ask our officials, how much did it cost to develop this creation? What was the role of the Cabinet of Ministers, as well as the support of reputable state institutions indicated at the beginning of the article in the development of the site? And finally, by what principle were the site developers chosen?

The Ukrainian Internet is that electronic part of Ukraine which, thanks to the efforts of enthusiasts, can bring us closer to European standards and give a further impetus to the development of the country.
A state website, albeit a children's one, made at such a low technical, artistic and informational level - this is a shame for Ukrainian politicians, a shame for the state. However, politicians, apparently, do not care, the site was made just for show, in addition it’s another wonderful opportunity to tell on TV about their successes “Look, we are good, we even made a wonderful site for children,” and of course someone put a little more state money in their pocket, because sites, by the order of the government, as you know, are not made for pennies.

PS: So that the critic does not look unfounded, go to the children's portal of the Moscow government deti.mos.ru and compare.
