Samsung officially stops selling and stops production of Galaxy Note 7

Samsung was unable to cope with the explosion and fire of the battery of its new flagship Galaxy Note 7, and over the past 24 hours has consistently announced the termination of production of the smartphone and sales of already released devices around the world.

In the official blog of the company, users are asked to turn off their devices, regardless of the lot (primary or “safe”), and return them to the seller for the full price or with exchange to another smartphone.

“We are working with relevant regulatory authorities to investigate recently reported cases involving Glaxy Note 7. Since consumer safety remains our top priority, Samsung will notify all carriers and retail retailers around the world about stopping sales and exchanges (meaning stopping the exchange of Galaxy Note first waves on the “safe”) Galaxy Note 7 during the investigation, ”the company’s official blog says.

The story with the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 began in early August. Then, immediately after the start of sales of the new flagship of the Korean manufacturer, a number of users reported self-ignition of the smartphone and battery explosions. Corresponding videos appeared on YouTube, and after the “wave” was picked up by the world media and technical publications, which further fueled the desire of consumers to “complain” about their new product. On September 2, the Korean manufacturer officially announced the withdrawal of all applications received for the implementation of the Galaxy Note 7 for verification and troubleshooting.

According to Samsung’s plan, all users who want to hand over their Galaxy Note 7 could do it for the full cost of the device and in return either receive money or another phone from the seller, or wait for a “safe” installment with the battery defect already fixed.

Apparently, the Koreans hoped that such decisive measures would stop the discussion of their products in a bad light, however, Samsung’s “bullying” flywheel was already untwisted. In mid-September, while investigating the causes of the explosion of the Galaxy Note 7 battery, articles and notes appeared in the American media that not only the company's smartphones, but even washing machines , were exploding .

When applied to washing machines, the media were already incorrect and frankly “poisoned” Samsung. An explosion is an ignition of something accompanied by a strong sound due to instant chemical decomposition of a substance and the formation of highly heated gases. The washing machines of the Korean manufacturer, in fact, fell apart due to the imbalance of the drum and strong vibration, which led to the destruction of the mechanism and the expansion of its components with serious damage to the body.

To justify Samsung, it is worth noting that the destruction of the machine mechanism occurred under load when washing large or waterproof items at high speeds. However, the question remains why the machine worked “for wear” and did not track dangerous vibrations and load imbalance inside the drum during washing and spinning.

After the release of the "safe" Galaxy Note 7 and the release of its users in the press, almost immediately there were reports that their batteries were ignited and exploded. One of the devices of the “safe” party caught fire on board the aircraft, after which some airlines began to require the owners of the Galaxy Note 7 to completely turn off the device during the flight. Other incidents involving the latest Samsung flagship have also been reported.

Under pressure from the public and in order to stop reputation losses, Samsung took a radical step to completely stop production and recall all devices. It is likely that after the real elimination of the defect leading to the ignition of the battery, the Korean giant will try to resume sales of its flagship. But by that time a lot of time will be lost, which will weaken the position of Samsung against its main competitor - Apple, and it is also unknown how consumers will react to the “restart” of a flammable smartphone.
