The fastest processor will release IBM
A 4.7 GHz processor will be released by IBM. Company representatives call the development "the fastest processor in the world."
The processor will consist of 790 million transistors and will be built using 65-nanometer technology.
Compared to the Power5 chip, in the new version the clock frequency is doubled and the cache is 4 times increased (8 MB).

IBM says Power6 will be aimed at attracting customers who use HP, Dell and Sun servers with Intel Itanium and Sun Sparc processors.
Based on the predecessor Power6 built NintendoWii, Xbox 360 and PS3.
The next processor from the Power7 series will be released in 2010.
