The Coop social panel appears in Firefox

Mozilla Labs is developing a new social “feature” for the Firefox browser called The Coop (this can be translated as “chicken coop”). Appearance is fully consistent with the name - a kind of "pen" in the right side of the browser, which contains the faces of all friends. Through this panel, you can exchange messages, links and share content by simply dragging the file onto the face of a friend. If you click on any friend, a list of his new photos on the Flickr website, new videos on YouTube, blog posts, etc. immediately appears on the screen. Probably, it will be possible to make an extension to integrate The Coop with Habr, the browser will display the number of new texts and user comments, his karma, etc.

The social panel will be integrated with various web services and pump out information from there. It looks quite interesting and is very similar to the implementation of the “social browser” Flock , made just based on Firefox with the addition of similar functionality. Actually, on the project’s wiki page, developers openly admit that the idea of The Coop came to them precisely under the influence of Flock.
