Honeyshed: an unusual network "shop on the couch"

The advertising agency Droga5 launched the Honeyshed project , which, as conceived by the developers, should become a breeding ground for viral videos advertising various products.

The Honeyshed website, announced back in May of this year, is a collection of short comedy sketches that are broadcast either live or recorded live, and that advertise individual products, such as cosmetics or DVDs. The site is designed for an audience of 18-30 years.

The Honeyshed site is currently in open beta, which began this week, and is scheduled to officially launch in December 2007.

Now the site is served by 40 to 50 full-time employees working in Los Angeles. At the moment, the site contains 30 videos lasting 2-3 minutes, but in addition to them, another 70 videos are ready. Instead of doing shows aimed at advertising specific brands, Honeyshed makes videos showing products of various categories.

Visitors to the site can share the video with friends and embed it in their sites, otherwise what kind of viral videos will they be? Also on the site there is a chat so that you can discuss the advertised product with other viewers, and links for the quick purchase of goods.

Droga5 wanted Honeyshed to present the product in a less intrusive way, but advertisers are in no hurry to sign a contract whereby their products are advertised on this site.
