Asustek launches Skype motherboards
Taiwanese company Asustek Computer plans to launch two models of motherboards along with telephone adapters: these will be M2N / TeleSky and P5B / TeleSky . Asus TeleSky phone adapter will be supplied with each motherboard , as well as a voucher for 60 free minutes of SkypeOut service.
The TeleSky adapter has two RJ-11 telephone jacks: one for the telephone and one for the telephone cable. After connecting this entire system, the telephone works just like before, receives calls via a regular telephone line, but you can start Skype on your computer at any time, and at that moment the home telephone becomes a VoIP device.
The device itself is connected to the motherboard via USB and works in Windows 2000, XP, MCE or XP64 operating systems.
An adapter on the motherboard is another easy way to connect to VoIP telephony for a regular user who is not spoiled by technical education and love for a PC. Especially for such users, other products are launched on the market, gradually “pushing” Skype from a personal computer. These are Skype phones that connect either via a USB port or directly to a DSL modem. Recently, the first WiFi phones with support for Skype and Google Talk have appeared . VoIP gates are starting to work in cellular networks .
Both motherboards should appear in retail in all regions within three weeks. The price is still unknown. TeleSky itself will not be sold separately, but its "double" TA-CP400 is for saleThere are still similar devices from other manufacturers.
If the experiment with the adapters turns out to be successful, then in the future chipsets with VoIP support may appear, and then on the motherboard the RJ-11 connector for Skype will become as standard as the PS / 2 connector now.
