Shkola Zhizni.ru - a social network of journalists and critics
The history of Internet projects, like the history of any undertakings, is unique. However, at the same time, quite often you can find pretty funny analogies. So the history of the project "School Life" is reminiscent of a Russian fairy tale, where the hero of the story 30 years and 3 years lying on the stove, and then suddenly jumped up and began to actively do something.
The project itself originated in the time immemorial of the era of the "collapse of the dotcoms" in the first half of 2000. It was then a simple mailing list and quite calmly “lay on the stove”, that is, it continued to remain a mailing list for more than five years. But at the beginning of this year, something happened (the stars apparently converged) and the newsletter found its site, as well as three authors who constantly wrote for it instead of one. An audience of active readers who were discussing new issues of the newsletter began to form on the newly-installed forum of the project, and finally, an archive began to be formed on the site, which had not been done before.
However, this was not enough. In April 2006 , ShkolaZhizni.ruincreases the frequency of publication of articles and clarifies its genre somewhat. Since then, it has been called the "Q & A journal." And from the end of May of this year, the project suddenly unfolds 360 degrees and presents its new hypostasis - a social network for journalists, writers and critics. From that moment on, everyone can become the author of the journal and at the same time the user of the social network.
Further history is developing rapidly. During the summer months at the School of Life.ruhundreds of new users are being registered, the site is acquiring more and more features of a modern Web2.0 project - a tagging system and a tag cloud are appearing, a hierarchy of user statuses is being formed, each participant is getting his own blog, and at the same time, the number and quality of articles created by this unusual online- by the editors. Among the authors there are more and more famous bloggers, psychologists, journalists, writers. Project participants are increasingly involved in the discussion of each other's articles, make recommendations and suggestions for changing and improving colleagues' articles.
And, finally, the latest innovation for today is providing authors with the opportunity to post on their page not only “formatted” articles for the magazine, but also any own literary works in any genre. Thus, each participant in the project got the opportunity to create a portfolio on his page and get comments and thoughts of his colleagues not only on articles for ShkolaZhizni.ru , but also on his other works.
And finally, the figures that characterize the project today (10.23.2006): The
average number of visitors to the ShkolaZhizni.ru site per day is 2500-3500 people.
The number of subscribers to the mailing list is 64655
Registered authors: 1291
Development continues.
