RBC bought a 60% stake in an international publishing holding
RBC bought a 60% stake in the international publishing holding EDI S PRESS Holding. The company has the right to repurchase the remaining 40% of shares before the end of 2008.
The purchased company received over $ 20 million in 2005 turnover. RBC reports: “The ratio of the transaction amounted to 1.9 to the revenue of the acquired company, taking into account the premium for control and a unique position in the publishing market.” Among the main media assets of EDI S PRESS Holding in Russia are Salon-Press Publishing House and Luxury Media Publishing House, and in Ukraine - Formax Publications.
With the acquisitions, RBC expects to strengthen its own position in the fast-growing magazine business. German Kaplun, Chairman of the Board of Directors of RBC, said that the Russian holding is aimed at a serious expansion in the print media segment. “At present, we are actively working on the release of new print media, some of which will appear this fall,” said Mr. Kaplun. “Given the trend of print media accessing the Internet, we also see the prospect of further development of online versions of the group’s publications, and, of course, we will launch new online projects.
Yevgeny Filimonov, one of the founders of Salon-Press, believes that joining RBC, a large media company, opens up fundamentally new opportunities for EDI S PRESS Holding: “It seems to us that the combination of magazine projects of Salon-Press and Luxury Media with RBC's projects will have an undoubted synergistic effect. ” He noted as a plus the lack of overlap in the products of holdings with similar target groups: "This will avoid internal competition and make the most of the experience gained by our companies over 10 years of operation."
It is reported that one of its founders, Sergey Shustov, will head the Salon-Press publishing house. Konstantin Ryasentsev, head of publishing at RBC, was elected Chairman of the Board of Directors.
Recall, Salon-Press Publishing House publishes Salon Interior, Ideas for Your Home, Interior Digest magazines, the Interior Shop catalog, as well as applications, catalogs and yearbooks devoted to architecture, design and construction. In addition, the company owns the Internet resources ivd.ru, salon.ru, inmag.ru,interior-digest .ru.
