What to do to the owner of a plastic card if they "shod" carders!
Greetings to all, I decided to write another article about carders entirely, and about what to do if you were "shod."
First, let's talk about carders in general, what is carding, and carding from the point of view of the law. Each cardholder (cardholder) should know that he must protect his card like the apple of his eye while keeping secret the PIN code and other data. But often these simplest measures are not enough. I will not delve into banking terminology and will tell on behalf of the carder, so to speak, in a generally accessible language. Indeed, often a simple operation to withdraw cash from an ATM can end in disastrous condition for your pocket. The purpose of the article is to find out in advance what you are risking, and be prepared for specific actions. First, I will tell you about the most common ways to capture and conduct with someone else's cards. These methods in their chronology are both primitive and often funny, and thought out using special technical means.
The most common way is to obtain card details for the purpose of their further use for purchases in online stores. It’s not necessary to make a copy of the card, and spending other people's money is very nice, right?
The next way is to copy credit cards using special software and hardware while conspiring with store employees. In Russia, this method is least common, since there are many nuances: they check documents for the authenticity of the card holder, verify signatures, call the bank that issued the card (bank issuer)
Also a very rare method is a conspiracy with bank employees, people working in banks can provide (sell) the necessary Old Carders. And from this, alas, no one is safe.
To the question of so-called ingenuity, some “scammers” install webcams on ATMs.
There are also curious cases. For example, it was rumored in my memory that "scammers" installed their own - portable ATMs in places with a large crowd of people. Yes, yes you heard right, this is not a typo, but such sophisticated methods still occur. I want to note that this method is very expensive, but one hundred percent true. The ATM naturally does not work, it just reads the necessary information from the card, and then one day it is removed.
In Russia, the scale of activity of carders (people involved in scams with plastic cards) is small. Maybe due to the fact that most Russian carders do not work in the country where they live. This is a kind of moral principle, and on the other hand, the guarantee of security is not to be seized by our valiant bodies.
So far I have abstractly explained the most common methods of fraud, without delving into the terminology, since the article is written not only for people interested in this (newcomers to carders), but also for ordinary “mortals”. I would like to talk a little about carders in general. You are probably thinking the question “who are the carders?”, “Why are they doing this?”, “Do they have any principles?”, I’ll try to explain these and other questions to you.
A carder is primarily a person who has a good command of a computer, well, above average. What pushes people to such a specific type of earnings, I don’t even know. This is probably everyone’s business, how and how to earn a living. I want to note that cadres are divided into so-called unspoken categories. I start down the hierarchical ladder.
In the first place are the so-called "gurus", maybe this word sounds too defiant, but after writing below you will draw conclusions. They are famous, respected and honest people to whom everyone is trying to imitate. It is customary to reckon with whose opinion and whose words are perceived almost as an axiom. These are very experienced people, often with higher education (and not one), although there are so-called "self-taught" ones. Often they do not have to bother with work, they do it for them, those people who were hired (mostly beginning carders) and bring them not a bad income. These people with extensive knowledge, even some of the kind of pros in their field, possess advanced security features and the most sophisticated cryptography methods. Such people are pros in everything, this also applies to banking institutions. There are also experienced programmers to whom their “creations” bring income. Believe me and the income of such people is fabulous figures. These are those people who have earned the recognition of society, as a kind of elite carding.
Next come the experienced people, that is, those people who make decent money on their craft, and who have also mastered all the “charms” of carding to perfection. Beginners also work for such people. As in the first case, these are people with an impeccable reputation in society. Yes, yes, I didn’t make a reservation again, carding is considering a society (community) under itself with morally ethical principles and rules.
Next come people for whom carding is a kind of hobby, mostly experienced people who have work, or even more than one. There are a lot of such people.
Well, finally we got to the most urgent topic - NEWS. I think it’s not worth explaining who they are. These are people, so to speak, “interested” and hesitating between law and money. Most of them will consider in which sphere of carding they will work. And as expected in a civilized society, the younger help the elders. I can say that newcomers most often come across to our power structures. Perhaps because of his naivety and not cautiousness, the desire to make money quickly by spending a minimum of time and money on this, putting together some means of caution. I want to note that the age limit of such people is from 15 to 18 years old, and rarely exceeds 20, mostly “schoolchildren”. Often these people are without an eliminative representation of the law, and without the slightest idea of the legal framework of the country.
And finally, as in any society, there is a peculiar negative - these are “scammers”. That is, people with a minimum of knowledge, and simply deciding to make easy money in the most safer way - this is a fraud of their own "shop" comrades. But the action of such people is suppressed, and everything possible is done so that this does not happen again.
So I talked a little about the hierarchical staircase of the community’s carders, and, noting the most significant nuances, there are other people who are part of the so-called “family”. These are hackers, programmers, lawyers, designers, but we will consider this in other articles.
It pushes such people to do this, as I mentioned various reasons before. These are mainly material problems. You see, everyone wants a beautiful life, drive beautiful cars, live in beautiful conditions. Why is this so common in Russia? I think there will be many opinions on this issue. Maybe because of the specifics of the Russian people, because you must admit, everyone says democracy, democracy, and we have the most that there is no capitalism. And looking at the rich and successful people a little hunting to live like them. Why can they live like this, but we can not? After all, it turns out there is fraud, and here, only some of them do not disdain morality and principles. Maybe this is a specific misunderstanding and dislike of someone else, against the backdrop of the collapse of the USSR, and what they did to Russia in subsequent years. The main goal of Russian carders is America, but lately the europa has also suffered from us. Why? And therefore, everyone decides for himself, and is guided by his principles. Carders have their own unspoken code of honor, which everyone understands in their own way. You probably think that these are people without any notions of justice, but no. We often help orphans, people with disabilities and just those people who need it. Let not all people, but for someone this help is tangible. There are many such examples, but I will not go into details, but often this help can brighten up someone’s life, and sometimes it gives a chance to live. Dismiss this, but we do not shun money to help those in need. Although basically everything goes behind the scenes, we don’t need publicity, in view of the specifications of our craft. And it’s not so simple to cope with us, in our legislation there are many holes and nuances, which we often use. And power structures squander their trousers in their offices and bite their nails because of their inability to influence us. As long as there is the Internet, and we, hackers and other similar people will be the information technology. While progress is underway, we are progressing! Demand, as you know, always creates supply. And petty genius and villainy are very joint things.
Now let's talk about the purpose of our article, this is how to protect yourself.
How to prevent my carders from stealing my data ... The simplest rules.
If for the counterfeiter the most important thing is to fake the drawing on the bill, then for the carder it is necessary to copy the information contained on the magnetic strip of the credit card. Moreover, this procedure does not require any special qualification - it is enough to be able to use a conventional computer and have certain software and hardware to put a set of codes on the strip, according to which any ATM anywhere in the world will read what kind of client it is, in which bank account and how much money is on it. This package of information is also called a dump.
Dumps are stored in banks or companies that support the work of international payment systems, and are protected from prying eyes by dozens of security programs with passwords known to a very narrow circle of people. The carder needs to somehow get into the bank database. Therefore, it is easy to guess that he cannot do without an accomplice on the other side of the “window”.
If you become a victim of carders - do not despair. Despite the seemingly hopeless situation, you have a good chance to get your money back. The first thing to do if you discover the loss of your plastic card is to call the bank and block it.
Often in a card issuance agreement, Russian banks say that after a statement about the loss / loss of a card, all financial expenses are borne by the bank. So you should hurry up and inform the bank about the loss as soon as possible. If the card was stolen from you, then the less time you give the criminal, the more money you will have left in your account. There may be times when you, as a bona fide card holder, keep it with you without any operations, and suddenly, on the day the invoice is due, you will be surprised to see that the funds on your card have “diminished”. In this case, you should immediately call the bank and report suspicious transactions. In turn, it will be necessary to block the card, for one simple reason that the details of your card have become known to the fraudster, and there is a great danger of repeated transactions.
Next, you go to the bank, and write a statement of disagreement with the transaction. In the application, in addition to standard data (surname, first name, middle name, contact information, type of your payment card, its number and expiration date), you will need to indicate the currency and amount of the disputed transaction, the date of its completion and the number in the payment system, and also the name or code of the store or terminal where it was held. All this can be found in the account statement, which must be taken with you. After you sign the application, the bank will accept it for consideration. First of all, the bank will try to establish who is responsible for the fraudulent transaction. There are two options: the issuing bank that issued the card for the client, and the acquiring bank serving the point of sale where the operation was conducted. The acquirer is responsible for the fraudulent transaction, if in “his” store they paid with a card stolen from you and at the same time the signature on the check is clearly not like yours. In this case, the bank will definitely return the stolen amount, and then it will deal with the store or restaurant whose employee served the scammers. In addition, the acquiring bank is responsible for transactions conducted on the Internet. There is much less chance of a refund if the issuing bank is recognized as the responsible party. This happens, for example, when the signature is on the check, even remotely resembling yours. conducted on the Internet. As a rule, in such situations, the issuing bank bears responsibility. And he, according to the agreement on the issue of the card, has every right to refuse to the customer claims for all transactions made before the card was blocked. Often, banks do not want to lose customers and take quarrels out of the hut, demonstrating their oversight. Money will be returned only if the bank does not have the slightest doubt about your honesty. And these doubts may arise if, for example, you have previously contacted the bank with a statement about a fraudulent transaction. But on the other hand, the chances of compensation for the stolen increase, if the money was withdrawn at an ATM of another country, and you did not leave anywhere. In this case, all documents must be attached to the claim statement, which can confirm that you did not perform this operation: checks signed by you about card transactions (they will confirm that the card was with you), medical certificates, a certificate of employment, etc. ... But if your application was refused, then do not despair, just go to court. According to the “Regulation on the procedure for issuing credit cards by credit organizations and making settlements on transactions made with their use, any document confirming the card operation must contain the client’s signature. And the bank does not have the right to debit money from the cardholder’s account if this document does not exist or if it was tampered with. In this case, the court is likely to take the client’s side, not taking into account any clauses of the contract. then do not despair, but simply go to court. If the contested transaction was carried out, say, at an ATM or via the Internet (now many banks offer cardholders to manage their account using the Internet), then the signature will be a pin code or a special digital password - an analogue of a handwritten signature. It is not easy, but possible, to challenge transactions signed in court. After all, according to Art. 7 of the Law on the Protection of Consumer Rights, the consumer has the right to provide him with safe services. It was this article that was referred by a client to whom our bank refused to compensate for stolen money. In this case, such a service was not provided to the client, because the scammers managed to fake a card. And the court ordered the bank to return the stolen money. "So in these cases, mainly the banks suffer from the actions of carders.
In Russia, there has been an increase in the number of electronic attacks on the information resources of banking institutions. Now we’ll try to figure out how to understand that carders have taken over your data. This question is very relevant today, because more and more people use bank cards. Often you can find out in only one way, by paying with a card in a store or trying to withdraw cash from an ATM, but to your surprise it turns out that your money has "evaporated". As I wrote earlier, first of all, it is necessary to turn not to the police with a statement about the theft or loss of a card, but to your bank so that criminals do not have the opportunity to withdraw all money from your card. According to bank employees, copying is the most common and painful phenomenon for banks. There are several countries that are most dangerous: Australia, Bulgaria, Venezuela, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mexico, Singapore, Thailand, Taiwan, Turkey, Ukraine and South Africa. But for Russian holders, the most relevant are the favorite vacation spots - Thailand and Turkey. Strange as it may seem, Ukraine close to us has become a zone of particular risk for Russians in this regard. Moreover, in addition to copying the magnetic strip, fraudsters recognize the PIN code of the card holder, this happens when the holder uses his card in an ATM. According to unofficial information, employees of Ukrainian banks and processing centers were involved in this. Last summer, by the way, some Russian banks completely closed Ukraine to their holders, operations from there were simply not allowed. But, according to law enforcement agencies, much more cybercrime is committed in the banking sector than is recorded. This is primarily due to the reluctance of banks and payment systems to report successful attacks on customer accounts. Thus, scaring away their customers. How to protect yourself? Hmm ... the question is funny for me as for a carder, because for now there is the Internet, and high technology we keep up with the times coming up with new and sophisticated methods of stealing data from cards. Well, I’ll tell you the most important aspects of how to protect yourself from “cyber thieves”. Russian banks, in turn, offer holders to take care of the impossibility of withdrawing money from their accounts, taking on half of the costs associated with the use of SMS messages. In most banks, the cardholder can connect to the card transaction reporting system using short messages that will arrive on his mobile phone. This allows you to not only immediately find out about an unauthorized card operation, but also immediately block it yourself. In addition, it becomes possible to manage limits on the card. That is, you can make the daily withdrawal limit to about 10 thousand rubles. while if suddenly the carders still get to you and try to withdraw for example 100 thousand rubles, then such an operation will not work. This service is more profitable than blocking a card; they block your account for free, but you will have to pay for unlocking a card. then such an operation will not work. This service is more profitable than blocking a card; they block your account for free, but you will have to pay for unlocking a card. then such an operation will not work. This service is more profitable than blocking a card; they block your account for free, but you will have to pay for unlocking a card.
There are some other ways to protect yourself. In order not to suspect, say, a waiter in a restaurant of potential fraud, do not hand him the card in his hands. Request that the reader be brought to your table, and that the withdrawal of money from your account occur with you. The same thing should happen in various stores and other organizations where you decide to use a credit card to pay for services. Moreover, even when you intend to withdraw money from your account at an ATM, block the keyboard as much as possible when typing a PIN code. Well, and, of course, it will not hurt to cover up the treasured figures by covering the keyboard row with your hand.
So - if you still want to use a credit card on the Internet, then:
1. Open a card in a large bank that has its own processing center and allows you to quickly control your account balance
2. Do not store all your money on this credit card (do not use a salary credit card !!!), you risk losing everything you have.
3. If possible, control the account balance. In the case of electronic authorization, the amount of the balance is reduced in real time, in the case of offline, it must be debited within about two weeks from the date of the transaction.
4. If you feel that something is wrong with your card, immediately take a bank statement - where the details of the outlet should be indicated, allowing it to be identified (at least approximately). If you cannot identify “your” transactions, a) ask your bank to challenge them and b) put the card in the stop list (the costs that you incur in doing so are incomparably less than what you can lose). However, decide for yourself - it may well be that you just don’t remember where you were two weeks ago. By the way, usually “attacks” to the account in the form of a small amount of transaction flow last several days and cause damage to the owner from several hundred to several thousand dollars.
5. Avoid dubious sites. Often a site is a trap for card numbers.
Here are perhaps the main aspects that cardholders must adhere to, who nevertheless decided to carry out any card transactions on the Internet.
But whatever the means of verification, if someone possesses (often illegally) full information about a credit card, then all these sophisticated protections go quickly and without any fuss. I say this because by nature I had to deal with this.
According to unofficial data, the damage that carders can cause by their actions in the event of a successful set of circumstances for them can reach the annual income of a reputable commercial bank. And although in Russia a full-fledged market for plastic cards has not yet developed, it is only a matter of time, and therefore underestimating the danger of crime and abuse in the system of cashless payments, at least, would be frivolous.
This, perhaps, will end my brief educational program, this article discusses the main types of bank card fraud, and the actions that card holders must take to prevent them from slipping. May the article be apprehended correctly by my “comrades in the shop”, because, as Ostap Bender said, there are hundreds of ways to “honestly” take money from the population. More details about carders and all types of plastic card fraud can be found on the carder forum, which is still open and accessible to all, at www.carder.info
As long as there are bank cards, we all exist that are connected with them!
