The Beatles and Apple Inc. shared the brand

Apple Inc. and Apple Corps (a company representing The Beatles in the recording market since 1968) have reached an agreement regarding the use of the Apple brand. According to him, all rights to the Apple trademark are transferred to Apple Inc.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed. “We love The Beatles, and it was extremely difficult for us to conflict with them over the right to own the brand. Now everything has settled down, and further disagreements will not arise, ”said Steve Jobs.

The new agreement will completely replace the one that entered into force in 1991. Then, 16 years ago, companies argued in court over the use of the common name and the "apple" logo and agreed that Apple Inc. (then Apple Computer Inc.) will retain the name subject to complete non-interference in the music business.

The conflict erupted with renewed vigor in 2003, with the advent of iTunes. The computer company has invited Apple Corps (owned by Paul McCartney, Yoko Ono, Ringo Star and an organization representing George Harrison) to provide users of the new service access to The Beatles songs. Apple Corps refused and, moreover, sued Apple Inc, citing a violation of the 1991 agreement.
