RTS contest "Best Private Investor - 2007": Breakthrough Machines?

The other day (c 19/9/7) the contest "Best Private Investor - 2007" was launched , organized by the RTS Stock Exchange and SmartMoney magazine .
The essence of the competition: participants must show the highest profitability for a certain period of time, working with derivative financial instruments in the FORTS market . In fact, the main goal of the competition is PR.
Last year, the contest aroused considerable interest in trader circles. The winner - Pskov programmer Noxer - showed a yield of 3600% per annum minus the exchange commission. Read more at $ M. Actively discussed competition caused an influx of speculators, dreaming of super-profits at FORTS, and increased awareness of the population about the derivatives market in general.

Most of the participants who took the top lines used scalping - a trading strategy that involves very intense fast trading (up to 100 transactions per hour) with an orientation to the current situation in a glass. Due to weak liquidity, scalping is only possible in limited volumes so far. Over the past year, the popularity of this strategy has grown significantly, thanks in large part to the competition.
A year ago, many players, including Knoxer, were suspected of using the MTS (Mechanical Trading System, robot, tamagotchi). And this time, the organizers decided to initially divide the participants into people and cyber by organizing 2 additional prizes - to the best person and the best robot.

From the very start of the contest, the interest was aroused by the Grigory robot, a representative of the Zerich Capital Management company, which has been working with robots for a long time , and which currently occupies the 3rd place in the competition. Although some observers suspected that someone was playing along with the robot, slipping convenient deals.

But last year’s winner this time came in with a clumsy amount of 1kk rubles and so far can’t boast of the result: he’s in a slight minus. There are opinions that he decided to abandon the struggle for 1st place, having earned all this a solid sum - the participants in the competition trade in slightly better conditions than ordinary players.
Holivists about the potential use of robots in trade have been going on since the invention of the computer, but so far there are no clear arguments. Rumors are constantly circulating about the existence of machines that bring huge profits, but no one has seen them live. It is reliably known that robots are used in the world's largest investment banks, but it’s a mystery exactly what functions they perform, just like no one has seen the source codes. Although, as the trading wisdom says, one who knows a good strategy will never reveal it to anyone, and a complete loser in the market will teach people and always be in sight.
This competition, if Grigory or any of the other dozens of robots are successful, can significantly promote the hardware in Russia and cause a boost in development in this area. The forums already offer Grigory author to buy his robot, but not the fact that this is not a dummy.
