Not that I paid much attention to all the details of the work of the Habr, as some do. But still I want to raise the question of tags again. First, where did the question come from.
For example, take this topic. What tags we see - Russian Railways, bunch, rebranding, money down the drain, corruption, Russia, Hebrew, BBDO, logo.
Russian Railways, rebranding, logo, BBDO - logical on the topic.
But what are they doing here - a bunch, money down the drain, corruption, Russia, Hebrew, BBDO? No, I understand that the "bunch" is found in the text. But let me - who will look for topics on such a tag and what is the likelihood that another topic with such a tag will ever appear at all? I suspect that tending to zero.
"Money down the drain" is the same story.
“Corruption” - not a word about it in the text, so why did this tag appear here?
“Russia” is too general a tag. If you search for it and arrange it in such a way, then the number of topics on it completely unconnected will be so great that it becomes unfeasible.
No, I did not gang up on this particular topic. Such on a habr "carriage and a small cart". In other words, tags are put something like where. Often, the logic of their choice is so controversial that you can think about it (over logic) longer than over the topic itself.
Therefore, I want to ask - are such tags needed at all? Maybe I misunderstand them, so I had such a question. However, it seems to me that it would be interesting to debate on the subject of regulation of the possible words indicated in the tags. No, by no means do I want to ban tags and I don’t have a ready-made solution on how to fix the situation.
One thing is for sure. In its current form, tag search has become an almost useless tool if you look not in the tag cloud.
