Paper newspapers will not soon give way to electronic, says Dopfner

Paper newspapers will not soon give way to electronic ones, but new technologies cannot be ignored. This opinion was expressed by all speakers at the session of the 59th World Newspaper Congress in Moscow, devoted to the innovation of the newspaper business.

“Newspapers have depth, the Internet has breadth. The main user on the Internet is the user, and the journalist on the newspaper. The Internet is not a newspaper, it is only a very convenient means of transmitting information, ”said Matias Dopfner, Director General of Axel Springer, a German publisher .

He gave examples of how traditional marketing methods (studying the interests of readers, changing the format and others) allow expanding the reach of the audience, introducing new publications to the market, although he recognized that the future lies with electronics.

“Paper will stop being used only when electronic paper appears, which will also be flat, which can be folded and folded. But it will still be a semblance of a paper newspaper, ” RIA Novosti quoted Dopfner as saying .
