    StreamInsight

First speaker, Nikita Shamgunov, is a Senior Software Development Engineer in the SQL Server Engine Platform . Nikita read a talk about StreamInsight at the Platform 2010 conference recently held in Moscow . He told us what CEP technology is and its implementation in the form of StreamInsight. What areas require CEP and how to apply StreamInsight. Nikita spoke about the internal structure of technologies and showed several examples of working with libraries based on LINQ / C # and IObservable.

Nikita's second talk was about the work of the development team at Microsoft. This report was previously read at the MVP OpenDays event. The report described exactly how the process of forming development teams at Microsoft goes, how the work environment is organized and relationships are built within different teams. We learned how and where Microsoft is recruiting new professionals. Nikita told how the work with students is going on and what kind of people are primarily interested in Microsoft.

After the reports, there were numerous questions to which Nikita gave interesting answers. In general, it was extremely interesting, even taking into account the fact that I had already heard both reports. In an informal setting, Nikita talked a little more and asked him about a little more interesting things.

    ASP.NET MVC 2

The second half of the meeting was led by Stanislav Chernichkin. He talked about new features in ASP.NET MVC 2 , about how you can apply them and about what difficulties he encountered when working with them. Using code as an example, Stanislav showed the use of domains, data annotations, and templates in MVC 2.

A separate part of Stanislav’s talk was the use of LINQ. He talked about some LINQ tricks from the field of functional programming and drew analogies with Haskell. It was interesting.

At the end of the meeting, I spoke a bit, talking about the new functionality that appeared in the recently released ASP.NET MVC 2 Beta compared to the previous version. My short presentation can be downloaded from here .
