Windows 95 ported to Electron

In recent years, the Windows 95 operating system has become a standard for demonstrating unusual porting capabilities: it has already been launched on Apple Watch and Android Wear smart watches and even on the Xbox One console. Now developer Felix Riesenberg from Slack has reached a new level by releasing Windows 95 as an Electron application , which can be downloaded and run on macOS, Windows or Linux.

Included with the program comes a number of applications, including Notepad, a graphics editor for MS Paint and standard games like Miner. Unfortunately, Internet Explorer is not fully functional: the pages do not open in the browser.

The 129 MB application takes up only about 200 MB in RAM even with system utilities, programs and games running.

The latest version of windows95 v1.1 supports floppy disk drives.
