Windows 10 Pro can no longer block Windows Store
Microsoft no longer allows system administrators to block access to the Windows Store app store for Windows 10 Pro users through group policies, although this is a necessary requirement in some corporate networks.
Starting with Windows 10 Pro version 1511, this feature was removed retroactively (see bulletin KB3135657 ). The application directory lock has remained only in the Enterprise and Education editions.
Microsoft representatives officially confirmed the change and added that corporate users have only one way out: install Windows 10 Enterprise version.
“Microsoft aims to help enterprises manage their environment, while at the same time giving people a choice of applications and devices that they productively use for work and life,” the official Microsoft said.. - The edition of Windows 10 Enterprise is our offer, which provides IT-professionals with the most detailed control over the company's devices. Windows 10 Pro offers only a fraction of these capabilities and is recommended for small and medium businesses that require specific settings management, but not the full set required by IT professionals in large enterprises. The ability to block access to the Windows Store is usually required for organizations that need better control over corporate devices. It fits into the tasks of Windows 10 Enterprise. ”
