“Yandex” received four notifications from Roskomnadzor, which prescribe the removal of content that violates the rights of several TV channels of the Gazprom-Media Group, explained in the company.
Yandex believes that the definition of the Moscow City Court is "fundamentally" contrary to its own practice, which was formed earlier on this issue. “To make matters worse, they do not solve the problems of controversial content, as resources with such content will be available in other search engines, social networks, and so on,” said a Yandex representative in a comment to RBC.
In turn, Roskomnadzor intends to block Yandex.Video despite appealing the court ruling : “This is an interim measure, in any case, the claim is secured by blocking the resource for 15 days,” explained the deputy director of the regulator Vadim Subbotin. The ministry also noted that the company has not signed a memorandum on combating piracy on the Internet.
