FCS refuses to let Xiaomi phones bought in online stores abroad to Russia

Many phones of Chinese manufacturers are both beautiful and powerful. Plus inexpensive. Not surprisingly, they are being bought.

At the end of April, Roskomsvoboda wrote that the Federal Customs Service of the Russian Federation stopped passing electronic equipment bought by Russians abroad across the border. In particular, we are talking about phones by Xiaomi. One of the users of the network, who bought such a device in a foreign online store and did not receive it because of the customs officers, decided to deal with this problem and discovered that his case is far from an isolated one.

As it turned out, FCS announceda whole campaign against counterfeit. At first, this referred to “fake child car seats”, which are sold in the Russian Federation much more expensive than abroad. Then the customs officers scaled their task, becoming a fight with "counterfeit" phones. At the border, not only Xiaomi devices, but also Sony, BlackBerry, Chuwi and some other companies are “wrapped up”. Now they have told the Federal Customs Service what the cause of the problem is, RBC reports it .

In particular, the response to the user's request, which is referred to above, states the following: “The Orenburg customs post office identified the product - the portable phone“ XIAOMI ”... As part of the inspection of documents and information, it was established that the trademark“ XIAOMI ”was included to the customs register of intellectual property based on the appeal of the copyright holder. "

In the future, the situation cleared up. It turns out that in Russia, the rights to sell equipment from Xiaomi are owned by Smart Orange. She, according to her representatives, together with Xiaomi and counteracts the entry into the country of counterfeit goods, informing customs officers about violations in this area. “We strongly recommend our fans to purchase the company's products only through official sales channels. In this case, they will receive an official guarantee and will be able to take full advantage of after-sales service, ”said a representative of the RDC Group, which owns Smart Orange.

This information was confirmed by the customs officers: “The recognition of goods as counterfeit is not within the competence of the customs authorities. Determining whether the products identified by the customs authorities show signs of infringement of intellectual property rights (counterfeitability) are assigned to the right holder. If, according to the information provided by the copyright holder, the shipped goods are counterfeit, the customs authorities will take measures to prevent the import into Russia of prohibited goods arriving in international mail and ensure their immediate export from the country. ”

Representatives of Smart Orange recommend buyers to buy Xiaomi phones in Russia, more precisely, in the official stores of the RDC Group in Moscow, St. Petersburg and Vladivostok. As far as can be judged, in Chinese stores the prices for mobile devices are lower than those of the official Russian reseller.
