Chrome overtook Internet Explorer in browser popularity rating

The Chrome browser, developed by Google Inc., ranked Internet Explorer in popularity. According to Net Marketshare , the difference is still very small, tenths of a percent, but it is. The data was obtained by analyzing the attendance of 40,000 sites. As it turned out , the share of Chrome is now 41.66%, while Internet Explorer has 41.35% of the browser market.

There is another interesting detail here. The fact is that the same company reports about 3% Edge in the browser market. But on the diagram (in continuation) this moment is not indicated. As you can see, Net Marketshare considered this 3% as a share of Internet Explorer. So it turns out that the market share of browsers for Chrome is greater than that of all Microsoft browsers.

The rise in popularity of Chrome should not be very surprising. Microsoft is now paying maximum attention to Edge, pushing IE into the background. But the problem is that the Edge is currently available only for users of Windows 10, which is now not so much. The next update for this OS, according to Microsoft, will make Edge even better, which could affect the growing popularity of Chrome.

    Cumulative data for all countries

Be that as it may, this is a very significant result shown by Google. Let me remind you that the corporation browser was introduced only in 2008, while IE has existed for many years. And for 8 years, Chrome has managed to overtake Internet Explorer, taking the first line of the browser popularity rating.
