100,000 people have already bought into the “free” broadband from VimpelCom

In the spring of 2016, the largest mobile operators MTS and VimpelCom launched tariffs with unlimited Internet . VimpelCom went further than its competitor - and offered subscribers a “ free ” Internet at the “ broadband per ruble ” tariff .

For 501 rubles a month, the subscriber receives 5 GB of traffic on a mobile phone, 550 minutes of communication, free calls within the network, home unlimited Internet at 15 Mbit / s and 25 channels of mobile TV. The last two options are positioned as "free."

The service became predictably popular: over two and a half months, this tariff hooked up more than 100,000 people , and the actual number of users is even greater, because VimpelCom’s home internet implies distribution of traffic.

The general director of VimpelCom, Mikhail Slobodin, explained in an interview with the Vedomosti newspaper that home broadband access is considered as an anchor service for retaining subscribers and imposing various paid services. It is more difficult for a person to simultaneously replace the Internet channel in an apartment, changing the sim card for the whole family. This will allow VimpelCom not only to stop the outflow of broadband subscribers, but also expand their base, Slobodin said.

In the spring of 2016, Megafon together with the fixed subsidiary Net By Net Holding began offering a similar tariff, like that of VimpelCom. A similar project was launched in Siberia with Er-Telecom Holding. The results of the projects have not yet been announced, but it is already clear that the proposals are in demand, the representative of MegaFon said.
