Unicode 9.0 standard adopted

The Unicode Consortium has announced the release of the final version of the Unicode 9.0 standard . In the ninth version of Unicode exactly 7,500 new characters were added, so the total number of written characters reached
128,172. Six little-known alphabets are specified and standardized , including the letter of American Indians and the ancient Chinese Tangut letter - an extinct hieroglyphic system used in the Xi Xia State.
Many people think that Emoji is playing an increasingly important role in communication, so the Unicode consortium experts tried to expand the standard set of pictograms. In total, 72 new emoji are added to the standard.

Full list of new emoji
All approved emoji are listed below. It is worth noting only that the experts of the Unicode consortium did not heed the suggestion of Google employees to include in the standard set more emoji with female professions to reduce gender inequality.
A suggestion by Google employees was

ignored. For the "male" professions did not appear female Emoji. Moreover, the standard includes several new purely male Emoji, as well as one male alternative to the old female Emoji dancer - a dancing man!
For each Emoji, there is a code, a standard black and white glyph from the table, examples of colored glyphs and the name of Emoji.

The consortium reports a change in three important specifications in Unicode version 9.0:
- UTS # 10, Unicode Collation Algorithm - Unicode text sorting
- UTS # 39, Unicode Security Mechanisms - Unicode anti-spoofing mechanisms
- UTS # 46, Unicode IDNA Compatibility Processing - compatible URL processing with non-ASCII characters
The full version of the Unicode 9.0 standard is published on the official page .
The next update of the Emoji Kit and the release of the new Unicode Standard 10.0 will take place in 2017. Anyone can offer emoji for inclusion in the standard set.
