A triathlon engineer from the Google Street View team has passed and traveled 500,000 km across Thailand as a camera operator.

This is not a dream job, but probably close to it?

Many of us use various map services, and often this work goes along with using Google Street View. This service can be used for a variety of purposes, including travel. For example, browse what is located near the place where you are going to rest. You can also explore remote places where people rarely come in (some regions of Alaska, the underwater world, etc.), but where there were already representatives of the Street View team.

Few people think about how much you have to drive and walk to such "operators". This is not about Google cars that go about on the roads, but about pedestrians who travel, sometimes, huge distances to get the right images. One of the representatives of Google Street View, working in Thailand, has passed and traveled more than half a million kilometers. He used a variety of vehicles, including boats, cars, bicycles, etc. He went on foot, and quite a lot.

Some of the information has already been processed and shared by the service . The “operator” himself is a triathlete, so his physical training is excellent. And the body should work like a car, because you need to walk a lot, carrying a backpack with a panoramic camera and a computer system. The weight of all equipment is 18 kg. Battery life is enough for 6-8 hours.

The total work time is about two years. Breaks were made only for bad weather with precipitation - normally the camera cannot work in such conditions.
