New photos of the world's largest airship Airlander 10

In 2009, the US military ordered a hybrid aircraft from a British company. In 2012, the military cut the budget, and the contractor, Hybrid Air Vehicles, bought the sample and returned it to the UK, then receiving £ 2.5 million from the government. One of the main investors of the project is Iron Maiden vocalist Bruce Dickinson .

The 92-meter airship Airlander 10 can carry cargo up to 10 tons and fly without landing for 5 days with the crew on board, and in unmanned mode it can stay in the air for up to three weeks. In March 2016, the airship began to be prepared for flight tests .

By 2018, Hybrid Air Vehicles plans to begin "mass" production of Airlander 10 - six pieces per year. An independent study confirmed that the company will be able to sell 600 devices in the next twenty years and create a market of 50 billion dollars.

Another US military contractor, Lockheed Martin, also began working on its own hybrid aircraft. And in HAV they consider the appearance of a competitor a good sign.

HAV thinks about the project not only as a military device, but also as a luxury cruiser for unhurried flights. To do this, you can install on the device a cabin 2.5 times as large as can be seen in the photos. Some yachts cost hundreds of millions of dollars, and the Airlander 10 will cost just thirty-five million airships - people who have the money for such expensive toys might like it.

Now Airlander 10 does not fly, but is able to float a few meters above the ground.

At The Verge published new photos from the hangar, where there is this giant aircraft.

The airship is equipped with four engines. Two are located at the back, one more at a time on both sides. The maximum speed of the device is 150 kilometers per hour.

Now a small cabin is installed on the airship, but it can be replaced by a larger one - 2.5 times longer.
