The consequences of untimely removal of wisdom teeth
- Tutorial

Hello again! Today I would like to write a mini post and answer the question - “Why remove wisdom teeth if they do not bother?”, And comment on the statement - “To my relatives and friends, dad / mom / grandfather / granny / neighbor / cat - the tooth was removed and that's it gone wrong. Absolutely everyone had complications and now there are no deletions. ” To begin with, I would like to say that complications arose not from the fact of tooth extraction, but from how this removal was carried out. This could happen for several reasons:
- During the deletion, something went wrong and it was carried out incorrectly.
For example, a fragment of the root that could not be deleted could remain. Sometimes it really happens that a piece of the root is broken, it is not possible to get it in any way. The doctor decides not to torment the patient, so as not to cause even greater injury. Well, or not to touch the mandibular nerve, which passes very close to the roots of the 8th lower teeth, trying to get this piece out of there. You ask - "How so?" And so. If there was no acute, and even worse purulent inflammation, and a small, motionless fragment of the root remained in the hole, then nothing terrible would happen, it would simply overgrow. Naturally, I am not saying that it is necessary to leave broken roots in the holes without trying to remove them. But if the doctor understands that "picking" can only do harm - this is not a bad decision. I repeat if there wasn’t acute inflammation, otherwise the tooth must be removed completely, since it is infected.
- Sterility was not observed during the manipulation.

I'm not even talking about the processing of instruments and their sterilization, which in every medical institution should be ideal. Elementary, the doctor can not wash his hands, already wearing gloves to grab something, a phone, a computer mouse, a patient’s bag that asked to give it, a lot of options, and then with these hands in your mouth. Aseptics and antiseptics have not been canceled.
- The patient neglected the recommendations given by the doctor.

If everything that I talked about above, of course, can happen, although I think there are not many such doctors. At least I hope so. Some time ago, when I was working in a clinic located in the "sleeping" area of the capital, it was not uncommon for patients to come who completely did not follow the recommendations.
And they went to the bathhouse - “How can you? I've been walking for 20 years! Consistently every week! "
And sports are actively engaged -" How could I give up exercise, I'm getting ready for the Olympics "!
And if he did not want to hear that to rinse does NOT ! - “After removal, I came home and immediately rinsed with a decoction of herbs, chamomile, oak bark, and infusions on deer horns to disinfect. A neighbor advised me. ”
Even an elementary, unauthorized refusal of drugs prescribed by a doctor can lead to a huge number of complications. Ask - what drugs? Classically, no one wants to drink antibiotics. Although there are those who, at the first sensation of soreness in the throat, or if they have a runny nose, throw themselves with antibiotics like sweets, not realizing that this is not an antiviral drug. And here they don’t want to. An antibiotic is prescribed not just like that, but in order to avoid complications. The area where the 8th teeth are located is especially prone to inflammation and suppuration. This means that taking antibiotics after the removal of the retained 8 teeth is mandatory. If, of course, you want to take a chance and get a near-pharyngeal abscess, as one of my patients, who decided to neglect the recommendations, then please.
So what am I talking about ... Oh yes. Does not hurt!

Here is a good example of what the untimely removal of a wisdom tooth can lead to. And it doesn’t hurt! The man came up with a completely different problem, discovered by accident when they took a panoramic picture of his teeth.

Due to the incorrect position of the 8ki on the contact surface of tooth number 7, a rather deep carious cavity has formed, extending deep under the gum.

The wisdom tooth has been successfully removed, but the seven in turn ... (8ka is divided into three fragments - the crown part and two roots)

It would seem a normal tooth. “Well, caries, there’s one seal, put another one, business!” Everything is not so simple, since the carious cavity goes deep under the gum, such teeth cannot be treated. Why? Because when filling, the treated cavity must be dry. To achieve this with such a defeat is impossible. At least due to the fact that the gum contains “gingival fluid”, which will constantly leak into this area.
What to do? Option one - tooth extraction and implantation. Alas.
We are going further!

What do you think the patient has treated? No, not with wild pain or swelling, as many might have thought. But with what - “Even my food is clogging from the bottom right, look.” That is, the young man is only worried that the food is clogging ... the food is just clogging, Karl! To the question, did it hurt? The answer is “No, it never hurt and didn’t bother anything.” Well ... you already know the procedure in this case. So much for it - “I'll wait until it bothers”.
If you think that this is the worst thing that can await you, no matter how.

These cysts (and this is not the biggest one) can grow in your jaw and not bother you. Naturally, the tooth needs to be removed. In order to avoid an increase in this neoplasm, and the occurrence of possible complications. Before this, the channels in the next 7th tooth need to be treated, since its roots are in the lumen of the cyst.

The problem is resolved. The patient is happy. But all of this could have been avoided by going to a dentist for an examination.

Here's a picture waiting for us a year after removal. Everything dragged on. Everything is fine!
And this could threaten both a fracture of the jaw and a lesion of the mandibular nerve, which is accompanied by numbness of the lip and chin on the part of the causative tooth, and this numbness can remain for life.
The problem is that many do not go to the doctors, even when it hurts. Although, I do not think that this can be attributed to Habr users. But for a certain category of people it’s rather difficult to convey that “does not bother” is not an indicator that everything is in order.
Questions may appear such as, “I have a 8k curve, but do I need to delete it?” I will answer right away. Wisdom teeth must be removed almost always! All of these "almost always" I have already described in this article , and how these teeth are removed - in this one . Especially when 8s erupted incorrectly or did not erupt at all.
If all the wisdom teeth have “come out”, do not rush to rejoice and think that everything is fine. It may seem to you that they are in the correct position, but do not be lazy and go to the dentist, this may be a mistake.
That's it for today, thanks for watching!
Stay tuned!
Sincerely, Andrey Dashkov
