Microsoft Demonstrates HoloLens Features in Super Bowl 50 Finals

Welcome iCover Blog Readers ! It's no secret that watching matches involving athletes of the National Football League ( NFL ) is one of the most popular and favorite ways to relax a lot of Americans. And the Super Bowl (Super Bowl) - the annual final of the NFL USA - an event equated by fans of American football on a national holiday. On this day, February 7, 2016, Microsoft Corporation, one of the leading NFL sponsors, who signed a $ 400 million contract with the association back in 2013, will delight connoisseurs of its technology with an unusual advertising story. Its goal is to demonstrate what Microsoft HoloLens augmented reality headset is capable of "transferring" a football league match together with the stadium to the audience’s home cinema.
The company claims: simulating an NFL match in 3D reality on a home living room table with HoloLens is easier than drinking a cup of coffee. There are not too many details yet, but still it’s interesting to try to imagine how the spectacle will change for the viewer with the HoloLens headset? First of all, according to company experts, it will be possible to stretch the picture to the full width of the wall. Players, information boards, and graphic elements will appear in their natural three-dimensional dimension. And the highlight of the action will be a 3D model of the stadium and the game process, projected onto a coffee table.

“Try to imagine that the gameplay in all its details does not take place on a two-dimensional TV screen, but on the coffee table in front of you,” comments Microsoft employee Yusuf Mehdi on his blog, adding: ... the video will open up an amazing and new experience in communicating with the augmented world reality, where a big game goes beyond the limits of large screens, and statistics and replays of game episodes are displayed in full detail on your wall or table.

Do not be surprised if team members in full gear and equipment easily pass through the wall into your living room during the match. You can watch pop-up 3D holograms, view the field from all sides, forget about the need to recreate game moments from different stands in your imagination forever ... "

Of course, what the video will demonstrate is so far only a concept and a demonstration of its capabilities, and not a product ready for use. In order for Augmented Reality with HoloLens to become part of our lives, Microsoft will have to solve many software problems. And one of them is the ability to simulate “continuous”, “seamless” experience in real time, when when creating images and augmented reality plots, the whole amount of information accumulated from all working cameras placed on the field is taken into account.
It is worth recalling that the first version of the HoloLens Augmented Reality headset will soon be available for developers at a price of $ 3,000. Reliable information about when the gadget will be available for sale is not yet available.
