NASA will put a team of 4 people for 30 days in a flight simulation on an asteroid

NASA is setting up another experiment: a team of four will live in the Human Research Exploration Analog (HERA) simulator for thirty days. They will not be able to leave the simulator, communication with the Earth will be limited, and there will be no Internet at all. The team will only communicate with the flight control center and with each other.

NASA's new study simulates a 715-day journey to an asteroid. Team members will carry out actions that may be necessary during a real mission. The simulation suggests that even communication with the Earth will occur with a delay of one to ten minutes. Upon arrival on the asteroid, team members using virtual reality will be able to inspect it and collect samples.

The team will abide by the same regime.that astronauts at the International Space Station. From Monday to Friday, people will work sixteen hours a day, this time includes daily planning, conferences, meals and exercises. As part of the experiment, they will look after plants and shrimp, analyze and document events.

During the mission, the team will have problems. NASA will prepare a couple of emergency scenarios, one of which will require maneuvering the ship through space debris on approach to Earth.

Researchers will collect information about people living together, about team cohesion, mood, performance, and response to stressful situations. Each of the team members will be monitored using multiple devices. Psychological and physiological experiments will help prepare people for future missions, writes NASA .
