New from Xiaomi at GearBest
On November 24, Xiaomi held an official event, which had been heated up for several weeks by newsletters with intriguing hints of new devices. As a result, the presentation showed the successor of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 phablet family , as well as Mi Pad 2 - the first tablet from the company in almost two years. In addition, not so long ago, the company announced the Xiaomi Yi DVR car DVR . We decided to collect all these devices in one material and talk about the features of each new product.
Specifications:
Immediately after the announcement of Xiaomi Redmi Note 3, the device in technology blogs began to be contrasted with a similar device Meizu M1 Metal. Not only because the devices entered the same price segment and have similar positioning (the devices even have the same hardware platform in the form of the MediaTek Helio X10 chipset), but also because of the unrestrained competition between the companies in the local market. The latter, most likely, became a kind of accelerator for Xiaomi, which did not begin to make a copy of last year's Redmi Note 2 with a simple update of some components, but released a completely new device, ready for competition.
The smartphone received an updated design, which focuses on metal as the main body material. The novelty has three color options: silver , blackand gold (will be available later). Like other metal devices, there are plastic inserts for antennas in the upper and lower parts of the case.
What Xiaomi is still proud of is the preservation of dimensions and a slight increase in weight (164 grams versus 160 in Redmi Note 2) while increasing the battery to 4000 mAh (in Redmi Note 2 it was 3000 mAh). On the rear panel, in addition to a 13-megapixel camera with 5 lenses, phase detection autofocus and the ability to record FullHD video, there is a fingerprint scanner with a response speed of 0.3 seconds. For example, it will turn out to unlock the smartphone, simply by feeling with the index finger a round recess in the back. This seems more convenient than the location of the scanner under the display, as in the same Meizu M1 Metal.
In the latter case, you will need to use two hands at once. By the way, the fingerprint scanner on the rear panel could be seen in the fresh Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P, and it seems that it is still difficult to come up with a more ergonomic solution for devices with 5-5.5-inch screens. In Xiaomi Redmi Note 3, it is slightly recessed into the case. Thus, there are no notorious bulging parts in the device: everything is extremely minimalistic and neat.
Dimensions, as mentioned above, remained similar compared to the previous generation phablet. The key reason is the use of a similar 5.5-inch display with a resolution of 1920x1080 pixels. Also on the front is a 5-megapixel camera module, which is capable of shooting video in FullHD.
As for the hardware, then Redmi Note 3 is available in two versions that vary in memory size: 2/3 gigabytes of RAM and 16/32 gigabytes of flash memory for storing data. Here it is worth mentioning, perhaps, the main drawback of the new product in the form of the lack of support for memory cards. That is why it is preferable to choose a more powerful modification - the difference in price at the same time is about 2000 rubles.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 can work with two microSIM-standard SIM cards. The corresponding compartment is located on the left side of the device. The opposite side is occupied by the volume rocker and the power / lock key.
Traditionally for Xiaomi smartphones, the MIUI shell acts as a software platform. In this case, the seventh and newest version works in conjunction with Android 5.1 Lollipop.
Specifications:
If Redmi Note 3 was released a year after its predecessor, then Xiaomi took more than a year and a half to develop the second generation of the Mi Pad 2 tablet. It is logical to assume that during this time the company came up with something truly new, however, this is not entirely true. The tablet turned out to be solid, updated, but by no means innovative. For example, almost the entire list of specifications migrated directly from the first model, with the exception of the new Intel Atom X5-Z8500 chipset, and support for SIM cards has remained unrealized. However, behind such, at first glance, mediocre changes there are very nice details. A key innovation is the design. The tablet is made of metal and, interestingly, it turned out thinner than the Redmi Note 3 phablet - 7 millimeters with a weight of 322 grams and a battery capacity of 6190 mAh.
Capacity decreased by exactly 510 mAh, and the new-fangled USB Type-C connector with quick charge function became compensation for this.
By the way, the previous generation Mi Pad was made of plastic. Given that the device has not changed its price segment and positioning, this can be considered an excellent change. Moreover, the company sets a high bar for competitors who still consider metal a sign of exclusively flagship devices. Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 is available in two versions: with 16 and 64 gigabytes of internal memory. At the same time, the 64-gigabyte model can optionally run Windows 10 or Android 5.1 Lollipop, coupled with MIUI 7. It is noteworthy that the price will not vary depending on the platform. The tablet is available in golden and
silver colors.
Specifications:
The Xiaomi Yi product line already includes several cameras for different purposes. So, the company has an action camera of the same name, a smart camera for home use, and now also a full-fledged video recorder - Xiaomi Yi DVR. Despite the fact that the manufacturer’s action camera is suitable for these purposes, the novelty “out of the box” is designed to provide maximum convenience for video recording while driving.
The camera has a 2.7-inch display, under which are the control keys and indicator. So, with the help of a set of controls, you can adjust the shooting quality, recording intervals, view the gallery and more.
Maximum video quality is limited to 1080p at 60 frames per second. Material is saved to the memory card (not included). To view videos and synchronize data, it is not necessary to remove the memory card - for these purposes, the camera has a Wi-Fi module, as well as a proprietary application for iOS and Android.
The device comes with a car mount, a USB cable, and a cigarette lighter charger adapter.
The indicator, coupled with a sound alert, is designed to notify the user of the battery level, memory size, as well as dangerous situations on the road. The support system will warn the user about the need to maintain a safe distance and go beyond the road markings.
