OCZ Storage Solutions Announces Host Managed SSD Technology in Saber 1000 Models
Hello Giktayms! The company OCZ Storage Solutions for the first time to announce the technology Host Managed SSD (HMS), supported by a series of SSD drives Saber 1000 . HMS technology allows the host to control the internal background processes of SSDs that were previously hidden from the system level of the host systems. Managing background processes at the system software level, such as garbage collection, can improve the overall performance of storage systems, especially in terms of obtaining a stable and predictable response from a large pool of SSD drives.
Hyperscalar, cloud, and conventional data centers use storage systems formed and managed by software that manages large SSD pools on multiple servers. The consistent performance of these SSDs is critical for most modern applications, such as databases and online trading, that have migrated to the cloud. Providing HMS functions using the API allows you to embed HMS functionality on the storage stack.
“We have listened to the requests of our customers, who need not just high performance, but steadily high performance ,” said Oded Ilan, General Director of OCZ R&D in Israel.“Our new Saber HMS SSDs, together with application libraries and APIs, for the first time allow you to manage large SSD pools at the software level, surpassing performance limits that could not be surpassed without this technology.”
OCZ provides a reference design and demo platform to demonstrate Saber HMS functioning . OCZ also provides application libraries and programming instructions for easier integration of HMS technology into the storage stack and software of various OEMs.
OCZ Saber 1000 SATA Series drives were the first to receive HMS support and are available in 480GB and 960GB capacities in 2.5 ”x 7mm format. Designed for cost-sensitive, read-oriented, large-sized systems, the Saber 1000 HMS delivers the consistent performance required by a data center at a cost that ensures a quick return on investment. With a focus shifted towards high-speed performance at a minimum cost, OCZ sees HMS as the next round of evolution in storage design.
More detailed information on the Saber 1000 HMS, including details of the entire line of server SSDs, is available on our website - www.ocz.com .
