Dainese introduced a motorcycle jacket with an automatic airbag

Apparently, manufacturers of motorcycle equipment have learned to make normal airbags for motorcyclists. Unlike automobile ones, they are built in not in transport, but in a protective suit - in a motorcycle jacket. Recently, a well-known manufacturer of equipment Alpinestars was marked with such a jacket, and now - another well-known Italian company Dainese has announced the imminent commissioning of a similar system.

Automatically inflating pillows built into jackets began to appear a few years ago. Initially, like almost all equipment for road transport, they were tested at the races. For technical reasons, the airbags for driving on roads were first composite - various sensors monitored the condition of the motorcycle, and therefore were on it, and they only sent a signal to the jacket at the right time. The system built into the jacket inflated the pillow after the received signal.

This, of course, is not very convenient - it is impossible to transfer to another motorcycle, rent a car, etc. But now everything has changed - all the sensors for acceleration, tilt, etc. are in the jacket, so it can be used with any motorcycle. The system polls the status of the sensors 800 times per second.

In the event that it recognizes an accident, the airbag inflates, adding about 5 cm of protection in the form of an air gap under pressure. The collarbone, chest, back and shoulders are protected, and a collar appears that supports the neck and head. The system should turn on automatically when the jacket is fastened - but the presentation is silent about how it is fed and how often it needs to be charged.

Dainese named her model Misano 1000. It will cost about $ 1700, and will appear in stores in November. Although the company proudly calls its system "the first motorcycle-independent protection", this is somewhat different. Last year, Alpinestars introduced a similar system called Tech-Air , which should be available soon.

Tech-Air is a separate inflatable vest with a built-in back protection system of sensors and an air cartridge for inflating protection. About this system it is known that it works on a single charge for 25 hours. The vest and jacket compatible with it will be sold for $ 2000 .
