RAICamp 2015 - Day One

On July 30, the scientific and innovative party of the Robotics & Artificial Intelligence Camp at the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology began, which I managed to attend as a free listener. The event was dedicated to robotics, artificial intelligence and other most trendy scientific and technical areas, as well as highlighting the current picture regarding cache and profit sources of financing and commercialization of promising developments.

The scientific and engineering public gathered mainly at RAICamp, and the action took place in a warm lampthe physical atmosphere of Fizteh in Dolgoprudny. And I, as an IT worker, far from a research hangout, managed to draw a lot of new and unexpected in 4 busy days. In theory, conference materials may be of some interest to the GT community. Fortunately, at the event I had a DSLR, 2 mirrorless cameras and an action camera.

Unfortunately, my video editor on such volumes and file sizes slowed down as domestic high-tech initiatives and the Russian financial sector crashed. But in a month, I still managed to mount and fill in at least the materials of the first day of RAICamp.

In principle, recordings of almost all lectures of the event in stock form without editing are available on the official channel of the organizers. But I, as a person spoiled by viewing mounted lectures from TED, WWDC, I / O, Digital October, etc. events, wanted to edit the material in a dynamic form with dilution of the picture by changing plans, presentation frames and video clips. It so happened that not all of the presentations and videos demonstrated were managed to be obtained, but in some cases a magical Indian installation was very rescued by a close-up from the projection screen.

So the action began with a non-patient introductory speech, from which you can get a little more detailed information about the event, if you, of course, were not present at it:

Further, the lecture part started with a speech by Alexei Yuzhakov (Moscow Technological Institute) "Trends in the development of computerization, robots and artificial intelligence." In addition to the gloomy social picture of the future, I was very impressed with some of the projects mentioned. As it turned out, life beyond the Moscow Ring Road sometimes boils in the regions, some city projects are now being implemented even more ambitious and technologically advanced than in non-rubber ones:

Further, Vladimir Pirozhkov (ASTRAROSSA) literally lit the stage with a speech about the “New Engineering Center based on NITU MISIS”. The speech and presentation turned out to be quite bright and inspiring, and the engineering center being created looks very promising, but so far a little ambiguous. I hope that by the time the project is ready, the project will indeed be completed and effective:

Then, Konstantin Yakovlev (Institute for System Analysis of the Russian Academy of Sciences) appeared on the stage with a speech “Methods and algorithms for planning the trajectory of unmanned aerial vehicles”. This lecture was already more technical in nature than the previous ones. And if, in terms of the colorful and spectacular slides (after the previous one), this lecture looked a little less bright, then in terms of visibility and clarity of delivering specific technical information to the audience, the lecture was very high:

Next, there was a lunch break and during this time a couple of anthropomorphic robotic creatures appeared on the stage - a torso with a Turing head and someone resembling an afro-centaur:

Next, Kirill Shilov (SmartAP) appeared on the stage with the speech “Development and creation of a complex of automatic control system for unmanned aerial vehicles ". Quite interesting developments were shown in the rapidly growing market of autopilot multi-compilers for video shooting from the air:

Then, on stage was Alexander Khanin (VisionLabs) with a speech “VisionLabs Company Face Recognition Technologies and Their Applications”. As it turned out, lately, domestic image recognition technologies have gained impressive momentum in terms of development and widespread adoption:

Then, following anthropomorphic robotic creatures, some of their creators appeared on the scene - Raisa Bogacheva (Neurobotics) with a speech “Anthropomorphic robots and their use for psychological and informational support of astronauts” and Vladimir Konyshev (Neurobotics) with a speech “Biofeedback of robots, bioprostheses, exoskeletons. " Judging by the presentation, the biocontrol and neurointerface industry is progressing slowly, but surely ... But as for the “sinister valley” effect, when viewing the facial expressions of the presented anthropomorphic characters, something like this sometimes covered me:

Then, Andrei Ivashchenko (KhimRar) appeared on the stage with the final performance of the first day of NeuroNet 2035. As I understand it, this is something like a thematic cluster within the framework of the NTI in terms of distributed artificial components of consciousness and psyche:

At this lecture part of the event came to an end. Then there were workshops on biocontrol and neural interfaces, but taking into account the increased interest of those present, it did not seem feasible and practical to break into there, being hung with photo / video equipment, and to document something.

As for the event as a whole, it turned out to be very informative and eventful, for which I am very grateful to the organizers of the conference. Four days passed practically in the same breath, although trips to Dolgoprudny are a bit exhausting. I hope the next such event will take place within the Moscow Ring Road and the conference will be held a little more often than every two years.

ps: Video editing is a hobby for me now and I'm not really a pro yet in this matter. I will be glad to any comments with criticism, tips and rational suggestions regarding the installation of videos of such lectures. As for the lectures from the other three days of the event - I will try to mount and lay them out in September, since I managed to overcome several video editor bugs and partially automate the process of converting formats.

Only registered users can participate in the survey. Please come in.
