Hacking next-generation UltraHD (4K) BluRay discs questionable

imageThe Chinese company Fengtao Software, which produces DVDfab software for decrypting and copying DVD / BluRay, announced that it will not include in its program the ability to decrypt the next generation of BluRay discs in 4K resolution.

In a press release sent out by the company, it states that the new standard, the details of which became known thanks to Sony hacking , divides BluRay 4K protection into two types - basic and advanced. Advanced protection requires the player to have a direct Internet connection to verify the authenticity and authenticity of encrypted content.

Fengtao Software hastened to declare that it would not deal with hacking this system, just a few days after the famous company SlySoft ceased to exist. Under pressure from copyright dealers, the developers of the AnyDVD program, which allows to decrypt DVD and BluRay on the fly, closed the project website.

Fengtao Software already had legal troubles and received a preliminary injunction in 2014 in connection with a complaint from the administration issuing licenses for AACS protection.

The press release notes that the debate about whether the owner of the disc has the right to make copies of it has not subsided for more than ten years, and that, in principle, tools for breaking discs of even a new generation may well appear.
