Excitement in the service of education is a game that in a fascinating way will allow you to study geography, history, cultural studies

In this article, I would like to talk about an interesting find that we obtained as a result of a social experiment to create a Creative Communication Club. In terms of form, the club was conceived as a game educational and developing environment that helps new people to adapt in our society, get rid of constraint and other psychological barriers that prevent the disclosure of creative abilities. As a consequence, a formulation was developed that ideally, thanks to this environment, a person, in the heat of gambling excitement, could receive a brilliant comprehensive education. The essence of the club is to create an open community of creative people who come together to help each other realize a variety of projects. Creating elements of a gaming educational environment was the agenda of our first meetings in a new format. The result was a game highly relevant to the desired properties. Details about our invention and the club under the cut.

You do not need to be a specialist psychologist to understand that game motivation, due to the highest degree of involvement of the subject, releases tremendous energy, stimulates increased interest, actively works memory and thinking, perception and reaction. Specialists have long drawn attention to the fact that game methods in training and education provide a very high speed and degree of assimilation of the material. At the same time, one does not have to force anyone to play - sausages do not hunch. It is impossible to break away from the game, what will happen if it is impossible to break away from education? In reality, not all games are so exciting, but the most gambling ones can not develop the best personality traits at all. And if you once decide to take up gaming education, then you risk losing a lot of time in search of really interesting gaming techniques. AND,of this . I would be very grateful if anyone would share such valuable information in the comments. Specific techniques are of great value.
Ahead is a story about a new technique, which I have high hopes for.

    GeoDarts

The essence of the game is very simple, and as always, one wonders why no one has done this before. This is just a geographic map as a target for darts. The host, or one of the players, selected according to a certain algorithm, makes a goal: who will get into ... America? Or to Africa, China, the Kemerovo region, the Himalayas, Crimea or any other point, depending on the topic of the lesson. Of course, the winner is the one who first hits the target, or whose dart is closest to the given point. Moreover, the question can be posed in completely different ways, for example: in which country are the largest oil reserves located? Or: who gets into the country with the highest population density? Here it’s not enough to be able to read the names on the map and accurately throw darts. By the way, there can be many winners, because you can distribute places among those whose “answers” were closest to the truth. And in general it will not be scary, but even very appropriate, if children use the Internet in such lessons - to be able to quickly find the information they need - the skill is now very useful, but to win, you still need to be able to use this information. And after it, for sure, it did not immediately evaporate from memory. Here, each person can have its own advantages and its own tactics: someone has extensive knowledge and a good memory, while someone has a solid hand and a good eye.
I can imagine that if geography lessons were held like this in our childhood, we would not be dragged off the map. But in fact, in this way it is possible to study not only geography, but also history, cultural studies, regional studies, geopolitics or any other discipline in which the question “where?” Is relevant

Here is a rough list of the types of questions that can be asked:
    • Geography Questions
      • Continents, countries, provinces, seas, oceans ...
      • In which body of water are the largest reserves of fresh water?
    • Questions on economics
      • Where is the highest per capita GDP?
      • Which country has the largest investment in science and education?
    • History questions
      • Who will fall into Germany’s closest allies in World War II?
      • The state in which Babylon, Troy, Carthage are located today ...
      • In which country is the oldest city located?
      • Where was the paper invented?
      • Where was Napoleon defeated?
      • Which country was called the "Lady of the Seas"?
      • What country is NATO headquarters in?
      • Who will fall into the country that was part of the USSR? Or the Ottoman Empire?
    • Demography
      • Where is the highest life expectancy?
      • Which country has the lowest suicide rate?
      • Which country has the most nationalities?
      • Which country has the highest mortality from hunger?
    • Cultural studies
      • In which countries is Buddhism the most popular religion?
      • In which countries tribes with a paliolitic way of life survived?
    • Biology
      • Where is the homeland of elephants?
      • In which countries do bananas grow?
      • Where do the smallest primates live?
    • Tourist
      • Where is the largest active volcano in the world?
      • Which city has the largest metro?

Of course, the list of these questions can be continued indefinitely. It is more interesting if the answers to the questions are ambiguous, this will stimulate debate between the players, as a result of which the players can exchange knowledge and consolidate them in their memory.
Probably for lessons on a specific topic you need a special map and a prepared list of questions with a random generator. In the simplest case, this could be a deck of cards with questions on the topic where the winner gets the right to pull out another task. But we would like to develop a mobile application where users could add their own variants of questions on a given topic with a certain level of complexity, and other users could evaluate the quality of these questions. An application can also perform the function of a random generator. Here, there could also be a set of cards that do not even have to be printed - depending on the topic of the lesson, the projector can display the desired map on a special screen where darts can be thrown.
But this is more fantasy than distant plans. In the meantime, we just printed the political map of the world on foam board and invite you tomorrow (August 1) to a meeting of our club in order to carry out the first tests of our new game with us, in which you don’t need to get nerd for textbooks to get knowledge, cultivating the hump, but you can develop physically, sharpening dexterity and accuracy.

    Creative Communication Club

The Club of Creative Communication was conceived as the development of the Club of Inventors , which has been going to the Darwin Museum since last fall. The goal of our club was to create a community of people with ideas, resources, skills and knowledge in order to jointly implement the projects of participants on a mutually beneficial basis. Ideally, I would like to see the club as a crowdsourcing People's Project Incubator, where anyone could find the project idea, a team of like-minded people, mentors and all the necessary resources. In a friendly atmosphere, we regularly meet together at the round table in order to develop ideas and jointly look for ways to implement them.
And despite the fact that at the moment it can be said that the club really took place, although we are still far from ideal, the community has turned out to be quite closed, new people get into it solely through personal acquaintances. We initially wanted to create a more open and mass movement. And as a step on this path, the idea of a new format for our club was born.
We decided to create a gaming environment where people of different generations, social roles and statuses can freely communicate. This is a place for family leisure, where everyone can find something interesting for themselves. But this is not a place for a pleasant pastime, where you can cheerfully and meaninglessly burn your life. We want communication in our club to be constructive and informative. We are creating a Creative Communication Club - a community of creators, creators, those people who are implementing some projects or engaged in self-development, i.e. creates himself. We want to create a place where any creative person could tell in a friendly atmosphere about his idea or project, find like-minded people and get support. That is a meeting place for creative people who come together in order to help each other creatively realize themselves.
We want to help free creativity, and not just project activities. You can also think about other types of creativity. For example, it would be appropriate here if someone reads a verse, or plays a musical instrument, but not in the form of separate concerts (although this is possible), but occasionally or in the form of a background. We are not against reports, seminars, lectures and round tables at all, but on this site we would like to maintain free informal communication. And in no case do not allow any ugly or immoral creativity into the framework of our club. Ideally, we, the club community, should develop the ideal creative taste among our members.
I would like this club to be both creative and intellectual and popular science, in which empty meaningless communication is not welcome.
We invite you to take part in the life of our club, details here .
