Fogo: A universal system for travelers

An interesting gadget was spotlighted on Kisktarter, which manufacturers themselves positioned as an “adventure gadget”. Externally, the device looks like a flashlight, but it is not only a flashlight, but also a heart rate monitor, SOS alarm, navigator and much more. I am sure that the famous adventurer and gold seeker Lara Croft would give any money for Fogo in due time.

Well, for now, Fogo is raising funds on Kickstarter, and more has been raised than originally planned ($ 83 thousand instead of $ 50 thousand). Fogo has a lot of functions, among the most memorable and important - the ability to plot a route, notify the user of the wrong path, determine coordinates and speed, illuminate the area, recharge your smartphone, pair with third-party devices, and more.

Lighting

As for the lighting of the area, as a flashlight, the device does its job with a bang. The lantern brightness is 1000 lumens, which is enough for any conditions. At the same time, the flashlight tries to save energy by reducing the brightness of the glow when lighting the ground under your feet, and increasing in the distance when the lamp is directed.

Navigation

GPS and a digital compass are located in the “flashlight” case, so even the most difficult route will not cause trouble. If necessary, you can set the end and start points of the path, and the device will give a signal if the user strayes from the path.

Fans of cycling get the opportunity to fix the device on the steering wheel, and work with Fogo, as with a bike computer. Actually, inside Fogo there is such a module.

Spare battery

The developers placed a 6800 mAh battery in the device case. Thanks to this, the system can be used as an external battery. The charge is enough to charge the smartphone battery 2-3 times (it all depends on the model of the smartphone, of course).

Communication

Fogo also has a Bluetooth wireless module. So, the “flashlight" can be connected to a smartphone, tablet, or to any other compatible device.

Security

If Fogo received a signal about a strong mechanical effect (inside the device there is a gyroscope and an accelerometer), then the device asks the user how he feels. If there is no answer for a long time, dwys will send a message to the established contacts with a request for help. The message will be sent either through the smartphone or through the built-in Walkie Talkie module.

Audio

Yes, the lantern even has a speaker and two microphones. So if you want you can listen to music.

Empowerment

The developers have created removable modules for their device. So, some modules add the functions of a satellite modem, laser rangefinder and other useful functions. Fogo even has its own mini-OS and a number of applications that allow you to control the functions of the device.

You can work with the "flashlight" in the usual way, or control it with your voice.

How much does it cost?

On the same Kickstarter , the pre-order starting price is $ 199. Shipment of the first batch of Fogo begins in January 2016.
