Saratov scientists have patented a remote lie detector
Head of development from the Saratov State University. Chernyshevsky Lev Ivanov told TASS that his team received a patent for a contactless distance polygraph. The technology based on the assessment of non-verbal signs of speech has been tested in one hundred and fifty forensic examinations.

Lie detectors record respiration, cardiovascular activity, skin electrical resistance, and other physiological parameters to assess the confidence of the subject's responses. Before the advent of technical means, other methods were used: in China, the suspect listened to the charges with rice in his mouth, and if the rice remained dry, the guilt was proved, because the salivation of fear is stopped. In 1881, a hydrophygmograph was used to record blood pressure.

A polygraph from scientists from Saratov evaluates dozens of non-verbal signs of speech, including changes in the timbre and volume of a voice, tempo, stammer. One of its advantages is the absence of the need to fix the sensors on the body and obtain consent from the subject. Remote use involves verifying the authenticity of responses via audio. In the future, the polygraph can be installed as an application on a smartphone or tablet.
In recent years, technology has been tested in one hundred and fifty forensic examinations. The results were confirmed by a parallel study on a classic polygraph and search measures.
