Oculus VR made a film

At the Sundance Film Festival, traditionally show unusual experiments from independent directors who do not fit into Hollywood templates.
This year, the public was surprised by Oculus VR (a division of Facebook). As you know, she releases Oculus Rift virtual reality glasses, but now she decided to try herself in a new field and presented the short film Lost .

The film is unusual in itself. Theoretically, its duration is only 5 minutes, but the viewer has the opportunity to explore the world and explore different corners of virtual reality. At the same time, reality reacts interactively to actions: for example, you frightened off a swarm of fireflies - and now they fly around you. As a result, an amazing effect of presence is created, even cooler than in the Yandex.Teleport project, which bobuk talked about after the corporate party .
The film was shot by a division of Story Studio, its task is to create original virtual reality content and help Hollywood studios in mastering new technology. Over the past year, a group of professionals from Pixar and Industrial Light & Magic were hired to work the studio.
Oculus VR is not going to let Lost out, but seeks to sell film production technology to film studios and help them in the process of creating them.
Characteristically, Story Studio is not the only company that works in this direction. At the festival, more than a dozen other independent studios showed their work in the field of virtual reality. Back in October last year, the Zero Point film was released - the first ever short film with a 360-degree view. In November, the film Live and Let Die was released .
