The most interesting announcements of CES 2015

As soon as 2015 began, one of the most important consumer electronics exhibitions ended - the Consumer Electronics Show. In fact, CES is an exhibition (or even a show) primarily for consumers, therefore, stunning new products are almost not shown here, but they demonstrate devices that are ready for commercial production (for example, televisions), processor technologies that will set the development vector of smartphones and computers for the whole year, as well as concepts that show the level of technology in general. That is why the exhibition is not the first year more famous for robots and smart cars, rather than flagship smartphones, which we will already see at MWC in March.
Toshiba
The Japanese were noted by one of the most interesting devices at the exhibition - the Aiko Chihira robot, frighteningly similar to a real person . The robot can sing and gesticulate, emotions are displayed on its face. True, in these aspects, the imitation of man is not so impressive, there is still work to do. However, this is a very impressive development.
Toshiba predicts the widespread availability of such anthropoid robots by 2025-2030. They are taught many different ways of application, including information services at train stations and airports, concierges, carers, etc.

Also of the interesting Toshiba gadgets are smart glasses. They do not have a prism, and the image projector is mounted on the right hand. The oddities do not end there: glasses do not have their own power source, they work from devices connected to them. Camera and memory card are missing. Despite the ascetic set of functions, Toshiba offers many different scenarios for using glasses. There are three types of frames: universal, sports and for working in industrial conditions.

Intel

The company feels great - at the exhibition there were practically no laptops that did not work on the Intel processor. Moreover, the models on the latest generation of processors, Broadwell, were widely presented. Intel has traditionally introduced a number of processors, including as part of the Core U platform, designed to create powerful systems.
Intel didn’t forget about RealSense 3D technology and Rezence wireless charging. True, for the success of Rezence in the market, you need to enlist the wide support of gadget manufacturers. The same can be said of numerous products for the Internet of things.

Qualcomm

Intel's competitors are on the alert: Qualcomm showed off at the exhibition the new Wi-Fi 802.11ad standard, a whole range of solutions based on the Snapdragon 602a processor for automakers, all kinds of components for smart homes, the Internet of things, and many other areas. All kinds of existing technologies were not forgotten, for example, QuickCharge fast charging.

As mentioned above, Qualcomm has paid great attention to the automotive industry . In particular, the company exhibited the brand new Maserati Quattroporte GTS and Cadillac XTS of 2015, equipped with Snapdragon 602A processors, 3G / 4G LTE modems, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi from Qualcomm, as well as Android 5.0 (in Cadillac) and QNX (in Maserati) .

Nvidia

Nvidia's booth has traditionally attracted a lot of attention. The Americans announced the most powerful mobile platform to date - the new Tegra X1 mobile processor with a 256-core graphics accelerator. In terms of a number of parameters, this mobile solution is now comparable to the “adult” Nvidia GeForce GTX 980: here there is support for OpenGL ES 3.1, OpenGL 4.5, as well as the ability to decode 4K video at 60p. The novelty will be of particular interest for the TV and automotive industries.
As you probably already guessed, automotive topics have become one of the main trends of the exhibition. Nvidia also offered its solution for the "iron horses" - a platform for the on-board computer Drive CX and a platform for the autopilot Drive PX.

Acer

Taiwanese showed a range of gadgets at the exhibition. For example, the Chromebook 15 turned into a laptop with the largest diagonal among all such devices running ChromeOS. High-performance multimedia notebook Acer Aspire V17 Nitro got support for Intel RealSense 3D technology. Now you can control the device without a touchpad, simply by drawing various gestures in the air. And for their registration, an IR sensor and an integrated camera are responsible. This technology even allows you to create a simple three-dimensional model of an object, which can then be sent to a 3D printer.

Also of the new products can be noted the compact multimedia center Acer Revo One, as well as smartphones Liquid Jade S and Liquid Z410.

Asus

The main focus at the exhibition was made by ASUS on the Zenfone 2 smartphone equipped with 4 GB of RAM. A cheaper version with 2 GB of memory, a 5.5-inch display and the new Intel Atom Z3580 processor will be available. The cost of the smartphone should be $ 200, it will be on sale by March.
The Zenfone Zoom smartphone, which received a 5-inch display and a 13 megapixel camera with 3x optical zoom and optical stabilization, was also of interest. It will go on sale in the second quarter, and its cost should be $ 399.

Also, ASUS showed just three updated models of the Transformer Book Chi laptop. All are equipped with fifth-generation Intel processors.

Lenovo

At the Chinese stand, you could turn in the hands of many new products, including smartphones P90, VIBE X2 Pro and S60. All of them have their own interesting features and are sure to interest buyers.
Lenovo did not stay away from the fashion trend and introduced a smart bracelet VIBE Band VB10, equipped with a display on electronic ink. The bracelet performs both the function of a notification of events on a smartphone and a fitness tracker. Due to its high energy efficiency, the gadget can work up to 7 days with a constantly on display and Bluetooth.

Particularly focused on laptops under the NEC brand, in particular the NEC LaVie 13 model. With a diagonal of 13 inches, it weighs only 779 grams, today it is the lightest laptop in the world.

Dell

Three years ago, at CES 2012, Dell introduced the XPS 13 laptop. It was notable for the fact that the manufacturer managed to fit it into the case of a 12-inch laptop. This year, a new version of this device was introduced, which is comparable in size to 11-inch laptops. The width of the frame around the screen is only 5.2 mm, the fifth-generation Core i5 processor. The weight turned out to be in size, 1.18 and 1.26 kg for versions with a conventional and touch screen, respectively. Despite its compact size, the laptop, according to Dell, is able to work up to 15 hours in playback mode Full HD-video.

LG

This year, televisions became the skates of Koreans at the exhibition. First of all, of course, these are LCD models with a resolution of 4K / Ultra HD, supporting advanced color gamut technology. The manufacturer also significantly expanded the line of OLED TVs.

However, most of the visitors were interested in the curved smartphone LG G Flex 2. In addition to its unusual shape, it boasts self-healing material of the case. In comparison with the first version of the smartphone, the strength increased by 20%, and the recovery rate at room temperature increased from 3 minutes to 10 seconds. But that's not all - LG G Flex 2 was the first commercial device based on Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor.

Sony

This year, Sony introduced an extensive range of new products. Both hardware and software of the TVs were significantly improved. The eyes were riveted on the ultrathin X90C series with the Floating Style design. With a diagonal of 55 and 65 inches, televisions in the thinnest place have a thickness of only 4.9 mm.

With the advent of 4K TVs, camcorders also pulled in, allowing you to shoot content with the appropriate resolution. Now a full-fledged 4K camera can be purchased for $ 1,000, which can be called a psychologically important mark.

Sony did not forget about the devices of the "second plan", updating its audiophile player NWZ-ZX1 . True, this is more likely restyling than a full-fledged new model. The price corresponds to a high class device - 1120 dollars.

Panasonic

First of all, the Japanese improved the performance of their TVs, with special emphasis on the flagship CX850 line. Panasonic even said that representatives of this line can boast of the most correct color rendition in the consumer market. A very bold statement. The rest of the exhibits at the stand did not stand out for anything special, with the exception, perhaps, of an Ultra HD Blu-ray player.

Alcatel

The central place in the exposition was taken by the OneTouch Watch. This is the rare case when a device of this class does not use Android Wear. The obvious consequence was the ability to connect devices on Android and iOS. A fitness tracker with a fairly wide functionality is also built into the watch. The price is very attractive, only $ 150, however, it must be remembered that it will not be possible to install your software on the clock, you will only have to use the tools that are wired into them.

Kodak

The Americans launched several cameras under their own brand, a set-top box for smartphones, and their own smartphone. Who would have thought. Kodak IM5 does not stand out anything special, it is a typical mid-range device, wherever you look, both in design and in technical specifications.

Saygus

Surely you have not heard about this company. At the exhibition, she showed one single exhibit, the Saygus V2 smartphone. However, he was honored to be mentioned here due to its features and capabilities. For example, it is equipped with two slots for memory cards up to 128 GB each, as well as built-in memory of 64 GB. That is, in total, it can store up to 320 GB of data. At the same time, other technical characteristics allow him not to face the dirt even in front of the flagships of famous manufacturers.

Samsung

Unfortunately, this time the Koreans did not show anything special, all the innovations and updates were either previously announced or did not stand out from the competition. Most of the modernization concerned LCD TVs in order to somehow support the demand amid the advent of new products with OLED displays. Most likely in vain. All kinds of “smart” home appliances were also exhibited, and in parallel with CES 2015, Samsung introduced the new GALAXY E line .
