Feilun FT012 - 45 km / h of pure pleasure on second-hand engines

- Maximum speed: 45 km / h (without ripples). With a wind of 5-6 m / s, I managed to accelerate the FT012 to 38 km / h. Measured with SKYRC GPS ( * ref )
An autopsy showed excellent moisture protection of the servo drive and controller with the receiver (they are in the same case).


The motor, as mentioned above, is brushless. For those who are not up to date, I will explain. For brushless motors, the specific power (by weight) exceeds that of conventional hobby electric motors by a factor of two to three. That is, with the same mass-dimensional indicators, the recoil of the b / c motor is several times higher. For example, the maximum speed of a similar boat FT 009 with a collector motor is 22 km / h (I had such a boat). The same indicator of the subject of the review is twice as high. Knowing that the water resistance increases in proportion to the square of the speed, it can be easily calculated that FT012 is more than 3 times more powerful than FT009.

Also, there is an adjustment of the costs (deviation angles) of the rudder. I drive at maximum cost. But for those who pick up the transmitter for the first time, I advise you to set the costs to 50% and not immediately give the maximum gas. Roll out a pair of batteries in the gas, get comfortable with the controls and train to swap turns left and right when the boat is coming at you. This will save you from unplanned trips to the beach at full speed or, God forbid, from getting into swimmers. Choose a place to ride away from the beaches, as the FT012 is no longer a toy. At full throttle, he is quite capable of causing a very serious injury to a person in the water.

As you can see at the end of the roller, the housing is not completely sealed. But for 7-8 minute rides this is irrelevant. Water is drawn into the cockpit only at the time of overkill (revolution), which is extremely difficult to achieve. In the video, I could not turn it over on the go. To do this, you need a wave from a real ship passing by. But the “autoflip” function (flipping back after overkill controlled by the transmitter) works fine, which can be observed twice in my video.
The function is extremely necessary. It's one thing to drive in the heat in the summer, when you can always swim for an upturned model. And quite another - autumn-spring, when the water is completely uncomfortable. Just back up for 1 second and immediately forward. The boat flips to its standard position and continues to amuse us.

I will draw readers' attention to one important point:
A tube with grease comes with the boat, and this is not just an extra accessory. After a pair of rolled-out batteries, it is necessary to remove the flexible shaft of the propeller drive and lubricate the stern tube with this grease. Otherwise, the entry of water into the cockpit is inevitable. Also, this grease protects the shaft and tube against wear. In general, do not be lazy to service the model and it will last you a very long time. For lack of branded grease, it is quite possible to use the usual automobile Litol-24 (sold in every car shop).
In conclusion, I will say this, the Feilun FT012 is one of the best boats I manage. It costs not a little, but rather $ 93.94 ( * ref), but I have never regretted it. Reliable and fast, it will delight you not a single season. For me, this is the best boat I have had before.
