Transparent safe or willpower training

I came across safes, like many, not very often. But during this time it was necessary to observe how they were opened, used and even set up an electronic combination lock. That is, the user did not go further. In general, my idea of safes sounded something like this: it contains what is hidden from prying eyes. Imagine my surprise when I first came across a transparent safe, not with a standard combination lock, but with a countdown timer.

And here for some reason I recalled the plot from Yeralash.

The name of this engineering miracle is Self Boxing. Its main essence is not so much in hiding what is stored inside as in training of willpower, since the cup itself is made of transparent plastic and nothing will save the contents from a good hammer blow. But there is an element of willpower training. For example, at a meeting of friends, you can put all the phones in this safe and lock them for several hours. Or put inside the joystick to control the game console to limit the time to play. In general, the list of methods of use can be continued indefinitely, but for now let's move on to the technical characteristics.

The device is quite roomy: the volume is 2.7 liters. The dimensions of the bowl are at the bottom a square with a side of 13 cm, and at the top 16 cm. The height of the entire box is 17 cm.

Managing it is as simple as the look: just one button, and that one is rotary. By rotating it, you can set the safe blocking time from 1 minute to 10 days. Pressing the button is a signal to start the lock. If there are doubts about the duration of the lock, then 5 seconds are given to cancel the action. The lock itself is made by teeth traveling to the sides, which prevent the lid from opening. The mechanism does not have a reverse stroke and opening it is impossible. For unplanned and early autopsy, only brute physical strength and breaking with the help of heavy objects is available.
It looks like starting and opening a safe as follows.

The mechanism itself does not have a reverse stroke, so it makes no sense to put pressure on the tongue that has left. Just like pulling out batteries. The drive motor only works when the safe is closed or opened. They promise that on one set of batteries the device can last up to six months.
I also tried to trick the device, although the instructions say that there is only one emergency opening method - to break it. I decided to experiment and remove the batteries for a long period - 1 hour. Upon returning the batteries to their place, I saw the time at which the safe had stopped before. Moreover, the safe remembers the value with an accuracy of a minute and then from this minute continues the countdown, that is, by pulling out the batteries, the time for confining things only increases.

Having played enough, I realized that such a thing is needed:
    • For training willpower
    • To temporarily restrict children's access to certain things
    • In order for the company of friends to communicate, and not to show off photos on smartphones
    • In order to protect your lunch from hungry colleagues in the office, if you use a shared refrigerator
    • So that someone doesn’t get to the goodies at night
    • For fun

This dadget cannot be attributed to must have devices, but it can be a fun gift, serve for the benefit of (self) discipline, or allow you to save food until noon. You can view and purchase a transparent safe HERE .
