On the Web published a secret catalog of spy equipment of US intelligence for monitoring cell phones of citizens

Today, interesting information has appeared on the Web - a catalog of equipment that is used by US intelligence agencies to monitor the cellular devices of citizens of the country. The catalog was uploaded by The Intercept, and the site’s reporters received information from an intelligence officer who does not like the tightening of surveillance measures for citizens in the country.

There are 53 devices in the catalog, including the now well-known Stingray I / II surveillance systems . The range is about 200 meters, and the cost of such a gadget is $ 134,000. In general, there is nothing at all cheap in the catalog, the special services and the military (they also use such equipment) obviously do not spare money for such things.

In addition to Stingray, there are many other surveillance systems in the catalog, including portable ones. They can be installed on cars, drones, manned aircraft. There are also whole stationary installations, individual monitoring devices are also presented. The names of the systems are corresponding - Cyberhawk, Yellowstone, Blackfin, Maximus, Cyclone, and Spartacus.

The main manufacturers of surveillance systems are the CIA, NSA (only one device) and special enterprises. More than a third of the catalog items are devices that no one wrote or heard about before.

And the capabilities of the systems are quite significant. For example, several systems may store a “target list” of 10,000 cell phone identifiers. Using such systems, you can determine the location of a person, intercept SMS and eavesdrop on conversations. Two systems can even extract files, address books, and notes from the target device. One system is able to receive already deleted text messages.

Almost all the gadgets presented are base station simulators. They emulate the cell tower of the largest mobile operators. When someone's phone connects to such a station, special services are able to determine the location of a person and perform many other operations. Such stations can monitor subscriber conversations and intercept SMS messages.

In general, the catalog is extremely interesting, a complete list can be found here .
