MicroXperts HotBox - nettop on steroids

    Hello! As many people probably know, Yulmart has its own brand, under which we produce computers and laptops: MicroXperts .

    Models are the most common, but differ in an interesting combination of price and characteristics. About a year ago, we started something special, and today we are ready to show our new miniature PC, which can compete with performance not only with MacMini, but also with full-fledged desktop computers. Meet MicroXperts HotBox .

    The design was based on MacMini (what can you do, the designer had to be lured from the industry leaders, but there was no desire to further increase the cost of the product by developing new molds and designs). The body has been increased in height so that the entire filling fits in a "hot box". In addition, the panel with connectors has changed.

    Firstly, the power supply did not fit in the “box”, and an external one is used. It can be conveniently placed under the table or mounted on the wall: the corresponding mounts are included.

    Secondly, so that it would not occur to the user to power the mini-computer directly from the outlet using the “classic” wire, a proprietary power connector had to be installed. In addition, in accordance with the broad capabilities of the computer itself, ports for connecting peripherals have expanded. Users will be available:

    • Ethernet connector (1000G) x1;
    • HDMI 2.0 x4;
    • USB 2.0 x2;
    • USB 3.0 x2;
    • USB 3.1 x2;
    • 8 channel sound.

    Filling

    Motherboard is a work of art, our pride. Firstly, it is two-story. The video chips are placed on a separate mini-card, which is connected to the “central” extender through the PCI-E. Secondly, in a small case it was possible to place 8 DDR4 connectors, a Core i7-5820K processor and Intel X99 system logic. Since Intel X99 “out of the box” does not support the new USB standard, we installed a separate USB 3.1 VIA VL808 host controller .

    Graphics

    Three NVIDIA GeForce GTX 965M mobile chips are responsible for the graphics, each of which is equipped with 2 GB of its own GDDR5 video memory connected via a 128-bit bus.

    The system supports DirectX 11.2, OpenGL 4.5. The total processing power of the video module is slightly less than 6 GFLOPS due to the reduced operating frequency of the cores, which is comparable to the desktop graphics level Geforce GTX Titan X.

    Cooling

    To prevent this whole thing from boiling in its own juice, our engineers together with Corsair developed a special cooling system. The standard pump from the factory Corsair H90 was taken as the basis , and a profile radiator with a turbine was redesigned, which will pump air through it and cool the water. A board with video adapters is attached to the same radiator, each of which is in contact with the radiator through a Peltier element . The system worked for more than 80 hours at maximum load and nothing failed: the cooling system developed by us together with Corsair copes well with the heat emission of a powerful processor and three mobile graphics chips.

    By the way, we have already received proposals for the supply of MicroXperts HotBox from Russian Antarctic polar stations. And workplaces, and heating of premises in one device.

    Preorder

    The device, unfortunately, cannot be called cheap. Even taking into account the internal RND and partnerships with the largest suppliers of microelectronics, the filling of a computer, its assembly and delivery costs a little less than $ 1,400, which, you see, is not a little. Nevertheless, for enthusiasts who are ready to pre-order this thing, we are ready to offer special conditions. Only 99 thousand rubles for the version with 256 GB SSD-drive and 1 TB HDD.

    Thank you for your attention and happy holiday :)
