We constantly write about a variety of musical gadgets. For example, we talked about the history of the cylindrical phonograph of Thomas Edison, how to reanimate a bent vinyl record, the “ flute of forgotten dreams ” and 3D sound technologies . Today we decided to still look at something more modern and talk about the project of the Doppler team - a set of ear plugs called “Here”, which, according to your desire, regulate the sounds of the world.

CEO Noah Kraft gave the project the name "Super Hearing 1.0." Two round white earphones allow you to "tune" your hearing. Doppler was able to translate theoretical researchin such a way as to customize the gadget to mute or improve the sound of the surrounding world.

A personalized equalizer can help you selectively drown out sounds you don’t want to hear, such as sharp subway sounds or a baby’s cry. Yes, the device has a feature called “Suppression of Children”, specially designed to suppress children's cries.

“Hearing is a person’s dignity, and we want to make him amazing,” says Lanman. “Having a volume control in your ears is amazing.”

By the way, the team ruled out the possibility of using the gadget 24 hours a day without removing it, listening to Spotify, talking to Siri and making phone calls. They are sure that his initial task is to personalize the sound, for example at a concert.

Bringing a project to life

The founders of the project have already managed to earn points in the market of IT startups due to the successful exit from the recommendation music service Livestar in favor of Pinterest. In the future, colleagues drew attention to how the sound quality varies from excellent to crappy, depending on the location of the listener in the concert hall.

The first Doppler product was Dubs - earplugs. They simply muffled the selected frequencies. At this stage, the team established relationships with partners and attracted engineers. Dubs and Here projects are based on algorithms that allow you to capture, process and reproduce sound without any noticeable delays.

What's next

The team wants to create something like "Google Street View, but for sound." The service will be able to offer automatic sound optimization depending on location and environment.

According to project managers, we will wear such a device 24 hours a day: “You put it on at night and hear the sound of the surf, but your wife does not. She can hear the crying of the child if she is babysitting with him, and you do not need to hear him.

None of you need to hear the noise of a garbage truck. You wake up in the morning, listen to music and receive a phone call. ”
